Lived there for several years. Most are rentals
Exactly. Was stationed there for 6 years. Had my own YJ, but most on the road are rentals.

Ditto. I was in Maui recently. A ton of Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators. Most of the Wranglers are rentals.

The problem with Ouray is that a ton of the Jeeps are rentals and a lot of the people who rent them do not understand trail etiquette and will get people hurt or worse. I had a jack ass almost kill me on a shelf road when he came flying around a blind corner. I saw a lot of dumb shit there. I saw people destroying Subarus dragging their under carriage over stuff wheeling them on trails they had no business being on.

100% agree on the Rental's, but I can't say I've seen many/if any Gladiator rentals. Maybe they aren't where I'm going, but I have never seen one.

I've been to Hawaii several times for work, and every time my rental was a Wrangler.
Actually, the first time I saw a new JL in person and drive one was a rental in Hawaii.

Long before the Gladiators were out.

We’re going to Oahu in 2 weeks. Will dearly miss my Gladiator when there but we rented a 4dr Rubicon JL through Turo to explore the island.

Rented a Jeep JK a few years ago in Maui and we’ll never cruise Hawaii without a jeep again lol.

Jeeps use to be affordable , that is not the case anymore. They become a flashy accessory , an expensive toy. I sunk $80000 CAD in my Mojave two weeks ago. Thats a small mortgage .

Never been to Ouray, but headed out West in July so we'll have to see. I was in Avon Ind. last Sunday, and yes, there are tons of Jeeps there also! Realizing most of the Jeeps in Hawaii are rentals, I think another contributing factor is that their lanes are much more narrow than other states I've been in. Additionally, with their traffic congestion and strict speed enforcement, Jeeps have all the power / speed you need!
