87 is for marketing. These engines really should be running 91-93. The compression is too high for 87. This is dumb. Higher octane gas in these engines will fix the pinging.

Livernois Tune with a second PCM to swap in for warranty work. You'd still have risk of voiding the warranty, since there would be telltale signs like three total key cycles, but this is the best way to accomplish real performance with lower (Not zero) risk.
