Keep away from the DV8 front differential skid plate. Absolute garbage design. It clunks and makes contact just going over minor seams on paved roads. I called DV8 and they just told me to put rubber over the areas that make contact?!? I cannot imagine the damage this would do if you...
I am glad to see this thread pick up a bit of steam finally. It is a bit ironic since I ordered some Rugged Ridge Rock rails about two weeks ago after waiting nearly 3 months for someone to chime in about these step/rock rails.
Ultimately, knowing that the steps are only about 2" lower than...
Good to know, thanks! Yes, I am waiting on a DSP too. My local stereo guy said he can go online and change a ton of parameters in the DSP to dial the sound in. I just hope I don't have to wait another 2 months on the amp and DSP like I did on the speakers.
Still on the fence about...
I am surprised no one responded to your thread. In case you are still looking for answers, just about any aftermarket speaker will be underpowered with the factory Alpine amp because the amp is at 2 ohms and most speakers are at 4 ohms. The factory amp supposedly sends 46W peak per channel or...
I got a chance to have my local stereo shop take a look at and offer solutions for the Rockford Fosgate R1675-S 6 3/4" component speakers I waited over 2 months for and used to replace my "Alpine" speakers. He was surprisingly, much more knowledgeable than the "professionals" at Crutchfield...
I did not realize this was a thing, but you guys have some interesting stories. I guess this means mine needs bigger tires to draw some more attention. ;)
Great video and awesome views! I am new to Jeep and do my first off-road event in October at Badlands in Indiana. I like the analogy to a tool, but I think the Jeep is more rugged like a Leatherman (and also made in America). :like:
It was listed above from the JL forums that the peak output was 46W per channel or 23W RMS. However, this is at 2 ohms so with my 4 ohm speakers I am probably only providing them about 10+ watts or so RMS and they can handle 40W RMS. It sounds like a 4 ohm 8 channel amp with 40W RMS should do...
Too bad the wiring diagrams do not show power outputs, but they do demonstrate the parallel wiring you were talking about of the stock system vs. one channel per speaker and 4 channels dedicated to the subwoofer.
I am having a difficult time finding the power outputs on each channel and the...
When you say the speakers run parallel do you mean that the basic system has only one channel dedicated to each speaker location and then splits the power between the two speakers?
I am 99% sure the Alpine system has a dedicated channel for each and every speaker, but I am not sure if any more...
Thanks for confirming the 2 ohms. That answers a lot of my questions about the sound quality. So if you got Insane Audio's head unit would you need to keep the factory speakers or are there any 2 ohm options? I don't see any on Crutchfield's site that fit Gladiators.
Thanks for the info...
I had a 2020 Gladiator with the stock system and now a 2021 with the Alpine system. The sub and amp are the obvious upgrades, but the 4 inch "woofers" are upgraded from a paper cone to a decent synthetic with a rubber surround while the 3.5 inch "tweeters" look totally different. The sound is...
I picked up the Jeep cab cover recently since I made it almost 3 straight weeks with the top and front doors off. It goes on and off in about 5 minutes with 3 straps on each side. It works well in the rain and folds up to fit under the rear seat.
Exactly a month ago. They told me it would be 6-8 weeks at the time I ordered and that seems to be lining up. Only a few weeks now and I should have it installed.
