Drain, was advised years ago by a 70 year old who owned a trans shop to never flush a trans too much potential to flush debris in to solenoids. I have a F250 that has a drain plug on the pan, every 10K I drain 6 quarts out and refill it. 285K on the 250 now. At 100K on the Gladiator I did...
As others have said use your Jeep some, find out what you need. I'm in the Panhandle I mainly ride on the beach, I bought a set of Rubicam take offs and that was really all I needed. However" wanted" will take over after a while. Just have fun and enjoy your Jeep.
2020 Sport S 130K. Replaced steering box, both visors fell. Oil changes every 7K, differentials and trans case and transmission every 50K. Starting battery replaced and aux battery deleted at 50K. Spark plugs a 100K.
I have never had a major problem with any of my Jeeps with varmints. My wifes 13 Wrangler they loved the engine cover. While I was deployed to Desert Storm, (yes I'm old) mice chewed up all the paperwork in the glove compartment and made a impressive nest.
I installed to MORE folding steps with my rock rails. Very pleased, fold up when you are not standing on them and are removable by pulling a couple of pins. Only down side is that they are expensive, but very high quality.
I know where you are coming from. Over the last year we have had to take care of my 91 year old mother. Loading her in the Gladiator is not fun, something with bigger doors and more room would be nice.
I got 75K on the Wildpeaks that came on my JT, still had 10K tread left. Replaced 35K ago both sets wore flat no cuping. My truck works better at 38psi. Had front end alignment at 25 and 75 one of the best tires I have ever run.
I am quite content with my 2020. My dealer keeps sending me e-mail's telling me how I can trade my current Jeep for a new one at a lower payment. We all know that's dealer BS, I guess I could tell them I don't have a car payment are they going to pay me every month? When you read all the fine...
A stock S is more capable than many give it credit. I have a 2020 S with the exception of Rubicon take off tires my Jeep is mainly stock. I normally run on the beach and a few trails, that said if you pay attention you should be fine. A second vehicle would be great, but I normalcy go alone.
You can definitely spent a lot oof money on accessories and mods on both. Last week after I replaced the taillights on my JT I swear I heard my Low Rider say it needed new pipes.
After reading this I went out and hugged my wifes TJ. I like doing tune ups on the 4.0. I will pay someone to do my JT. I have a F250 V10 tuned it the first time, 1 1/2 hours for 9 plugs. 4 hours for the one under the AC at the firewall. Next time it needed plugs I gladly paid to have it done.
Try the Jeep before you spend a lot of money on the Jeep. I have a 2020 Sport S, I have made limited changes to my TJ, tires, replaced front bumper after a incident. Unless you are going extreme, you are more capable than you think. Buy a recovery strap, some recovery gear (that I have never...
Dealers are hit or miss, I ask at 50K about servicing my transmission. The service writer got a deer in the headlights look and said but its a lifetime fluid. I got the feeling that they were uncomfortable touching the transmission. Second dealer I talked to pushed a lot of aftermarket services...
I keep getting letters and e-mails from my dealer trying to convince me to trade. With prices and interest. Plus the fact that I have my JT the way I want it, I don't see a real reason to trade.
Enjoy your Jeep. I have a 2020 Sport S, Next month I will have had it for 4 years 90K. I still love it. Go surf fishing, pull my boat. The most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned.
While I admit my JT is light years ahead of the TJ I will point out the TJ clutch is a superior design. Got over 110K on it, with my wife driving it daly in rush hour traffic.
