I run 75w140 but I am regeared and tow heavy in Florida heat. The guy that did my gears only warranties it with 75w140 so that's what I went with.
I will say that I run RP gear oil and I just changed it after probably 8k summer miles towing 4700lb camper, and 40k miles on beadlocks 39s/38s and...
I can agree, the 4xe we have is perfect(other than the lack of rumble) even on 39s and stock 3.73s thanks to 375 hp and 470 ft lbs. I drove a 392 extensively, yes it was faster, but I also didnt really feel like I was getting much other than an exhaust note compared to the 4xe.
But not all the install work etc. there is a reason amw charges 30k and it's not the actual engine and parts cost but all the install and R&D work that went in to it.
"Jeep fans, don't worry, the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 will have a home at Jeep,” Borderdorf said. “We will extend the availability of the 392 on Wrangler, and in fact, we will tap the power and performance of the Hemi across Jeep products ... so Wrangler and Gladiator fans and Hemi fans in general...
I go every year and yes it's the largest collection of never off-roaded heeps you will ever see lol. I hit windrock the day before and people about fainted at the mud.
I will say it's the best deals of the year on parts though, always do my shopping there.
The rock jock is a lighter rate sway bar to allow articulation by not resisting roll as much. It'll behave like a light rate sway bar so more roll on road than stock connected and less roll off road than fully disconnected.
Absolutely love my regear. Went 5.13s as I run 38+ tires and tow a 4500 lb camper from Florida to TN. With 39s and stock 4.10 gears I had to use 1st gear to get up hills to the cabin in TN not towing and that was just pathetic.
Depends on what a "built" jeep means to you. Do you just want a lift and tires, mall crawler bling, average off roading, or extreme rock crawling?
New Pre-built will always be stupid expensive because they charge you exorbitant amounts on labor (or Aev who charges exorbitant amounts on labor...
Every year and half like clock work. Pretty sure I have a small flaw in one of the mating surfaces, and as the seal ages I get a tiny amount on the plugs. It's been covered under warranty so Ive replaced it, but if it wasn't under warranty I wouldn't have bothered.
There are 2 main places it can leak from usually.
1. Rear main seal: pull the inspection plugs and check for oil on them in inside. If it's covered, it's the RMS.
2. Oil filter housing: if this cracks you'll have oil down the side the engine.
Rain won't clean the inside parts that should be...
Yes and no, we don't know the number of pentastars eating themselves, but it's probably an extremely low percentage or we'd be hearing about it a lot more. The tundra engines were dying at an alarming rate and early life cycle affecting a significant portion of engines.
For all we know were...
May want to look at something like the Clayton triple rate rears then. I went with them since the triple rate let it basically adjust to the load, when not loaded it rides in the first 2 rates, when heavily loaded the heavy duty 3rd rate keeps it from excessive squat and bucking.
