You may have noticed the locks on the fuelpax. I wanted a way to secure them. Gorilla Clamp offers locks that with a little modification ended up working perfectly:
They just weren't wide enough, but an easy fix:
And to stop the jingle, I added rubber to the back of the locks:
We wrapped up our laundry room remodel today. With that behind us, it's back to the Jeep! ?
Additional lighting came today. Of course we stuck with KC HiLites. Flex Era 1s for the chase lights and C2 flood lights for the rack lighting. I have amber covers on the way for the chase lights...
I was going to hint around at it, but I'm just too excited! Yesterday the wife and I ran down to Anchorage to pick up our roof top tent that came in at REI. We got it home in the back of the F-150 and then needed to finish prepping the rack:
I picked up 60" HD Yakima Load Bars to hold the...
..and we're back! Our trip to the lower 48 went well and we really enjoyed seeing friends and family - although we worked every day to save up our vacation time for jeep exploring. ?
While we were gone, we had some shipments come in that I'm excited to share.
First and super easy to install...

The water tank came with the carriage bolts that fit it. Those are the bolts that have the squared neck on them to keep them from spinning once slid into bottom of the tank. I purchased some thick aluminum stock from Lowes. I believe it was about 4 feet long and somewhere...
It was a big day. The pups finally got to ride in the Jeep thanks to a new seat cover. Although the seat cover doesn't help the little one from jumping to the front and riding shotgun ?
It ain't much to look at, but sealing the truck bed was on the list. I got my first attempt done tonight after work. Now I need to test it ?
I used MD expanding foam tape and black window silicone. The tape expands to fill gaps between an 1/8 - 1" and is completely waterproof and paint-able...
Today the wife and I dropped into Anchorage REI and picked up an open box 7 gallon Yakima Roadshower. I came up with my own mounting setup and got it on the rig. You can move the entire truck by pushing/pulling on the tank. It's not the sexiest mount, but it'll work. This puts us over 10 gallons...
Hooray for the weekend! Today, despite some icy conditions, the wife took us out in the Jeep for some errands. We ended up dropping into a brewery before heading home:
Once home, we tackled a few small projects.
First, wheel locks to prevent mischief:
Mounted a WaterPort tank on the front...
Happy St. Patrick's day! The wife made us a delicious dinner while I chose the pour we'd have a long side:
After dinner, we had a few things for the Jeep. When we were cleaning the interior, we found a missing drain plug. While changing the air filter, we found a missing filter housing screw...
Done with wheeling to the Glacier this year or for good? We have been out there on a SXS in the summer, but not in the winter. What should I know about going out there?
