Can certainly see why. Is that a winch upfront to go w the aftermarket front free wheeling hubs?
Those tyres. The semi-stock nature of the vehicle. The spare fuel can. And those colours.
Out in nature roaming where Jeeps should roam.
Your photo has the age of jeeping innocence within it...
It’s a later unit than that w that roof line. I think 80 or 81 onwards from memory unless I’m mistaken.
The rims are disgusting. Still a great J truck.
That’s a Perentie. It’s was an AU designed and made variant of the LR 110/Defender. Used a turbo’d 3L 4cyl Isuzu if not mistaken.
It’s a wider, stronger, repowered Defender variant. It has two rear drive shafts, sending selectable power to the 3rd axle via the pto on the LR transfer case...
Yeah no I get the muscle car roots and absolutely why not. That’s the right scene to make some noise. And they sounds great to. Unlike tuned diesels.
Every “tuned” diesel I see makes an unspectacular huge roar/rattle noise and moves slowly relative to the rate of noise production.
Then...
Yeah something like that. Although those 70’s are coil w two radius arms and a pan-hard / track rod at the front end. Like a vintage bronco, amongst others basically.
Leaf spring comments do apply to rear though as they are leaf at rear. And they need it. I snapped this pic in traffic on the...
This is exactly what they do like no other vehicle. Take abuse. Keep on trucking. One has to hand it to the product quality.
Dependability is a deeply endearing character of a utility vehicle.
Correct. Don’t forget the front end would need to be changed to a four link radius arm setup to get anything like the flex of a Gladiator.
I can’t stand the sound of the idiots with tunes LC V8 diesels. Or any tuned diesel.
Why anyone would do that is beyond me. Ruins the outdoor experience...
Ten years 150k miles into owning a modern Benz high pressure common rail diesel 2.0L I4, VGT, VCT, Variable swirl port intake etc etc.
What are the specific concerns about EGR, wrt to engine longevity?
Are there any specific outcomes that people can definitively tie to the EGR?
It’s got zero to do with that usage. USA design and crash standards are why Toyota don’t import it.
There are some loop holes here for commercial vehicles. It does not have alot of upper body strength. It’s quite top heavy and unstable with sharp direction changes. …when they roll over it’s...
Lol. Yes. Actually v well said.
Yet between the crowd of yesteryear (us), and the utility users mentioned earlier, surely there’d be a few sales in it!?
Your underground mining findings are really interesting! And not surprising. Not at all. Bc the platform has such talent.
And Gladiator...
They’re a good product. That range (70 series) is essentially a highly refined, developed, strengthened, reliably and efficiently repowered Willy’s pickup of the 50’s.
It’s the exact concept, 70 years on. With A grade engineering throughout.
They’re far from perfect. One can read plenty on...
I agree. I agree w all of that. That’s a great rant :)
I don’t have anything against the pentastar. I don’t have any experience with it aside from a half hour test drive.
I have something against it being in the gladiator. Bc it’s the wrong motor for it.
I have alot of experience with a...
I agree w u. I think it’s actually the one vehicle platform in the entire Jeep lineup that can genuinely be referred to as a masterpiece.
It just needs that moment that we had in the 80’s where Jeep binned the small displacement v6 in the XJ and changed the game w the 4.0L I6.
And from that...
Would definitely allow the full potential of the gladiator to shine. I think Jeep knocked it out of the park with the design of the platform.
The potential has been held back to date by the base powertrain being a fairly small displacement naturally aspirated v6.
3.0L Hurricane puts...
I could sense the sarcasm.
I still think it’s a good idea of we’re talking about a 1.5L turbo motor generator for an extended range ev hybrid.
Mineral rail companies here run loco’s on electric in this way.
That sounds terrible. I hope your situation improves soon. I also suffer from sinus pain.
A doc once took a look at a scan of my sinus’s and called them a disaster. An honest assessment of my nasal passages tbh.
Goodluck with it look forward to your valued feedback to the forum.
Elevated cost of cash/capital affecting all auto sales aside..
I think personally that It’s glaringly obvious Gladiator needs a working-class / bread n butter hero power-plant to match the abundant platform talent.
3.0L standard spec Hurricane (probably w etorque etc) has got to be getting...
