How much power are people able to regain with regearing once you go as large as 37s or 40s? I know the 3.6 is a pretty good engine as far as output but that must be quite a load. Or does that require the torque of a diesel to go that large on tires? It just seems to me that even with regearing...
Pick ups have been classified as commercial in California since at least the early 90’s. Back then you could put a shell on them to remove that commercial rating (and I believe save a few dollars on registration). I’m not sure if that still applies.
I have bought a few sets of offroad tires from Costco. They told me there is No warranty for offroad tires they sell. I’ve bought BFGoodrich from them, KO2s and KM3s.
My local Costcos are limited in size increases (I think they told me a 5% increase was their max, but that was years ago). I would imagine like your Sam’s experience.
I went to Discount Tire once. I got a free tire rotation even though I bought the tires elsewhere. No questions asked.
I’ve had my JKU pop out of low but I just let off the throttle and the Jeep came to a stop. Edit:: Totally my fault as it wasn’t fully engaged in 4Lo, and a few months later I did it again. Needless to say I make sure it’s all the way back now.
Then I re-engaged 4Lo and went on my way.

I would think “Some horrible grinding sounds emitted” would not be a good thing. I myself would change the fluid at a minimum. I don’t know if the transfer case drain plug has a magnet.
Might even have a scope poked in for a look around at the gears?
And actually Heli-Coils are installed in aluminum as OEM in many aircraft assemblies. We used them and Keenserts, but Heli-coils much more (because they are cheaper and lighter). Either of them are much stronger than just threads and they increase the strength of the thread because (as you...
I know Heli-coils are strong. But I’m a paranoid person. BTW, a nut on the backside would lock the bolt from loosening but wouldn’t also put strain on the threads?
I know Heli-coils are strong, but for that purpose I would go with a Keensert. It is stronger than the bolt.
Of course if the hole isn’t rounded or the damage is minimal a Heli-coil might do the job just fine.
These guys might have information?? It seems most places want you to call for...
Actually those are heated steps for those that live in snow and ice prone areas. Lol
I was thinking the same thing. After running a bit it would get quite hot I would think.
