Hey all
2020 JTR. Not stock by any means. Was getting gas today and noticed some fluid where it shouldn’t be and realized I was smelling differential fluid. Looked under and saw that everything is covered in differential fluid. I was 90 miles from home on a Sunday, so $625 tow bill later I...
How built is your rig? Pritchett and Steel Bender are brutal. Still my favorite is Onion Creek. It's boring and easy and absolutely beautiful. La Sal Pass is amazing... dang near peed my pants on the Talus Section.
Planning a U.P. road trip in early October. Will be coming up from FL and trailering the camper with us. Colors should be just about perfect that time of the year. Really looking forward to it!
Swapped out the 22x12 Fuel Blitz / 38x13.5 Trail Grapplers for 17x9 Reika wheels and 38x13.5 Patagonia MT02’s. Mounted Extrusion Overland bars and got the spare up off the bed.
Currently running 38x13.5/22 on a 22x12 4.77" backspacing and -44 offset with a 4.5" Metalcloak lift, Fab 4 fenders, etc.
Considering 38x13.5/17 on 17x9, 4.5" backspacing, -12mm offset.
The goals as I see it are as follows:
-Reduce rotational weight (this is a daily driver in addition to...
Picked this up and will be doing this today. Wondering if I need to drain the entire system first and then refill it under vacuum. Is the tool going to start spewing coolant when it draws all the air out?
2020 Rubicon gas auto.
80k ish miles.
Recently the coolant temp gauge randomly will shoot up from normal (210ish) to 260 - 270ish. Dash goes red, audible alarm, and the engine fan kicks on to high speed. It’ll do that for a couple minutes and then go right back to normal. Sometimes...
I’m on a somewhat long road trip with another driver (sadly all on-road, no trails this time). After a couple days, they radioed to tell me that my backup lights were on as we were both pulling away from the AirBnB. I tried several ideas to get them to turn off and the only thing that worked...
This isn't really universally true. Rubbing vs low speed bump vs. high speed hit... slick rock? tree? brush? mud? My fab fours have held up against most of that with very little damage (other than some pinstriping). Rust? Yeah that's a problem. Overall appearance? Yeah that's a problem...
Good heads up. The issue here is that the Maximus3 stinger uses a bracket that uses that bolt. The previous owner installed it. And use the wrong size bolt there. After tearing into I see why. Getting the 3 pieces of steel to align correctly is a giant PITA and maybe not possible. For now...
The (somewhat rusty) bolt in these pictures is on the inside of the frame rail behind the front bumper on the driver side. I need to replace this bolt. Can anyone identify a part number? I looked through parts diagrams online and couldn’t find it.
It appears to hold a bracket that is also...
Yes, it's payload. And payload affects towing capacity.
And to say that it can't be calculated isn't really true. It can be calculated - just need to know the factors.
Again, payload affects towing capacity. I know it's a long read, but read the first post again.
And yes, it can be...
So we’ve concluded that the max weight I can tow in its current state is 5,910lbs. Got it.
Now, how about tongue weight? Tongue weight seems to contribute to payload, right? With the max payload being 1,245lbs and the max tongue weight 700lbs, it seems like a bit of a sliding scale. Meaning...
