First, let me say I am not unhappy with the current handling, and fully understand the on-road handling characteristics of solid front axle vehicles. That said, if Iām not fiddling with my Jeep, or my bike, I get bored. Really bored.
This truck has 7,000 miles, and spends WAY more time on...
Got the JT shoehorned into the garage with wifeās Outback and my bike due to forecast of 60-70 mph wind tomorrow with possible large hail and tornadoes.
I chatted up a fella at a gas station today who had just received his ā76 Ford Bronco with a 302, beautifully restored, that he won on a bringatrailer auction last week eight states away, for $63,500.
Talk about cool.
quenched my thirst for a hemi,
for a few days. š
I found the nine page thread from December. Evidently there is/was/might be a āpower domeā steel hood option that is not a scoop, that I am confusing with the scoop.
I thought some 2026ās (non 392) Gladiators were showing up with the hood scoops, on models that wouldnāt typically have the scoop. I canāt remember if they were Sport Sās or Rubicons. It was discussed here a few weeks back.
Every once in a while I feel the very same way about a vehicle.
If Stellantis doesnāt put a hemi in a JT by ā28 when Iām out of warranty, Iām driving this one to to Boone NC for a swap, just three hours away.
I changed shocks instead of tires and lowered tire pressure to 33. Iām content for now. Plus, I donāt keep vehicles long and I figure it will be more desirable for sale/trade with ācorrectā tires.
Maybe I answered my own question above. I drove about an 60-90 minutes earlier today, city and highway. 30-40 minutes one way, then 30-40 minutes back.
Jeep info screen says 12.4-12.5 volts in accessory mode with engine off. Battery tester on the battery terminals says 12.8 with everything off.
Not a challenge, but just a question. Why not? Is the voltage reading in ACC mode not accurate? Mine reads 12.4-12.5 in ACC mode, engine off.
Should I be checking the battery at the terminals when the vehicle is off?
This whole two battery system has spooked me since I found out about it two...
I hit the Uwharrie trails in NC the first week I bought it. I just spend the vast majority of the time on pavement, plus the other 10,000 a year I ride that white pig in my avatar.
I think the Bilsteins are a happy medium for road or trail, for me anyway.
ETA- Just looked at your Avatar. I...
So to close this up, I installed Bilstein 5100ās all the way around. That install was discussed in another thread asking some particulars on shock installation.
But since this thread was about improving road manners, hereās my two cents.
I removed the stock red Rubicon shocks. They are not Fox...
For me? I would say that it was easier to measure the length the new shocks needed to be, compress each shock against the floor with one hand and zip up the zip ties with the other, and install. My current floor jack isnāt tall enough, and I donāt think the jack stands were either. If I had more...
