I am also running Spicer 5.13 gears on a Rubicon, auto. I'm just going to have to bring it into the dealer. The Jeep shop that installed the lift has broken into the diffs two times after the installation and checked over the bearings and pattern and everything is perfect. Doesn't necessarily...
It doesn't sound like a gear whine but almost sounds like an a/c blower but obviously not that. I hear it at 30+mph. It does not increase in intensity or speed as speed of the vehicle increases. It is both in 2wd and 4wd. Sounds like its coming from directly below the center console.
I'm going to hook up my trailer for the first time to the Gladiator on Saturday and we'll see if I need to pick these up. It's a small pop up so I'm hoping to see around it but we shall see.
Does anyone getting a high pitched hum coming from the transfer case with 5.13s? We originally thought it was the gear installation but we've gone back twice now and that's spot on. I'm the only one that can notice it but was told that it is likely to do with the driveline spinning much faster...
My mechanic did mention that about the JL/JT bearings. So due to the design, will they be noisier or would it still lend itself to them being done improperly in some way?
The weird thing with mine is that at slower speeds forward the noise isn't load until about 40mph but in reverse it sounds as if I was going 40mph forward.
I just had my truck done with 5.13 Spicer gears and am getting a soft whine at higher speeds and quiets down at lower speeds and is silent at stop. The interesting thing is that the noise doesn't get louder the faster you go once you reach 60. I would think if it was a gear issue then it would...
I could see that for sure. I by no means am an overlander nor claim to be anything remotely close. I run trails around the state and go on 1-3 night camp trips. I am certainly driving down some bumpy roads in my journeys but certainly nothing like what a full time overlander would.
I may end...
I have actually considered the Genesis kit...and am still considering. For the cost of that full kit I could get a lithium though and not have to worry about all the extra stuff under the hood.
Also, this isn't necessarily the case with their kit but my Jeep shop (only do Jeeps) have seen...
Interesting. Like I said, don't know much about batteries. Ha!
I've had 75 ah on a AGM before and it seemed to be sufficient to run the fridge for 2+ days so I may be good with 90 ah may be good.
I don't know a whole lot about batteries but that lithium only has up to 60 amp hours. An AGM for our trucks would have up to 90 amp hours and would be able to power things longer. Interesting.
