Curious about one thing on cooling here.
The Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel is rated to tow the same as the hemi 7200 pounds if the sites i checked stated correctly.
Jeep engineers seem to suggest that they need more grill opening to go any higher on tow rating for the JT. If the JT is restricted...
It also tends to give you a couple hundred miles warning before any limp or no restart modes kick in.
Unless you are only using this thing on trails all the time with no long travel in between, you will never know when you need or it starts a Regen unless you pay attention to the mpg meter or...
Just a thought to some conspiracy theory to this thread.
Don't think for a second that putting the same mt from the jl into the jt wasn't a carefully considered choice.
Guarantee you one of the "bonuses" the bean counter are counting on is that given the lower tow rating the take rate will...
This had my attention back when it appeared. I wouldn't have given the JK, Gladiator, or bronco a second look if they built this just like they showed it.

I get that they probably chopped the frame so they wouldnt have to mess with extending the bed, but a proper 6' would have been awesome.
Now if jeep would stop ignoring the fact that people are sinking 100k+ into these things just to get something that should have been available from the...
Thats a shame, Prestige was awesome when I bought my JK from them 2 years ago. That said the salesman I had is now gone and has his own custom off road company doing hemi conversions and lifts.
As hopeful as I am that this is true, I'll believe it when I see it. EPA has been purposely dragging their feet for months and they have no incentive to get crap in order now.
Correct, unless you know what you are listening for you wouldn't notice anything. If you know what to listen for it's got a very nice quiet diesel clatter that was very satisfying in my 1500 Laramie.
Side note I'm always intrigued by people that call the mileage difference modest. My mileage...
Most assembly lines I have seen are a bath where once the body is complete it's submerged in primer dried then submerged in paint. Never seen a clear coat process on a line.
I would guess late availability is one of two things.
A the company didn't plan for it early enough and the supply line...
Called it on the towing. Knew there was no way the gladiator was going to keep too much speed if my JK 2 door has to scream to keep pace without towing anything.
Ecodiesel should do okay though as the 1500 did okay. Not great but okay.
Oh man I cant wait for the ike gauntlet test. Above 10k 5th and 6th on the 6 speed jk are more or less useless accessories. Poor engine is going to be screaming to pull 6500lb with the v6 at any kind of speed. My 2 door jk cant keep speed up that hill without screaming and that's with it not...
What am I missing here? How is the inability to fit something not the fault of the group that designed the jl/jt platform from the ground up?
CAFE? No that can't be it or half the SRT vehicles that came out in the last couple years wouldn't have been acceptable.
Emissions? No that can't be it...
I'm curious how if 4.5 cylinders deep (v8 forward offset side) doesn't fit for crash tests how the heck 6 cylinders would?
No way this happens without a redesign to make the nose longer.
EDIT
looking through the article again, it says no more than 3" longer than the 4cyl. Man those pistons...
I'll be sure to do this with the slight modification that I'd ask they keep the normal gladiator length and gladiator frame giving us a 12" extended cab in the exact same footprint as a gladiator with a 6' bed. Muahahahah. A man can dream.
This also begs the question. If they took the time to redesign the engine bay for the ecodiesel (They gave the same excuse for the ecodiesel in regards to the jk) why didn't they also plan for a hemi knowing the gladiator would share the same front end.
Seems like an oversight knowing people...
