Interesting but why chop the bed all up?
I also bet the did an m175 because they knew if they did a gladiator hemi we would all be bugging them for months demanding a hemi option in the production model.
Maybe the solution to the cooling issues is to abandon the 7 slot for a Kaiser grill...
Honestly from what I have seen a winch, especially one without an integrated solenoid wouldn't cause any issue if you retained the factory bumper and mounted it inside like the Rubicon tenth anniversary/hard rock/recon.
I'd imagine that the light bar and any other bumper mounted accessories...
I'm with ya man. But it looks like they made a blunder. It does appear to be based on a 4 door wrangler which means it's woefully underrated towing wise for what would be an otherwise nearly perfect diesel pickup.
If they got that sorted and offered it for preorder with a diesel in Rubicon trim...
Confirmed, blue one is indeed a two door with a roughly 6' bed. Seems to be some inconsistency on the actual wheelbase of it though. Some sites say it's based on a gladiator some say 4 door wrangler. One says 6 foot bed and yet still 12 inches shorter than gladiator with a 2 door jl wheelbase...
Unfortunately it is just a concept. Jeep just LOOOOVVVEESSSS making what people have been asking for for 20+ years then never going anywhere with it.
If they had loads of trouble getting the cooling right on the 3.0l ecodiesel they wont be able to pull it off with even a 5.7 hemi without...
So I just had a random thought. I know this would never come to fruition, but how many would be interested in a gladiator version of what semi trucks refer to as gliders?
Though slightly different from a semi glider, if Jeep offered an option to buy one of two versions of gladiators would you...
If you have enough juice to run fuel pump and light off the computer but not crank yes. You can put most push buttons in "run" by pressing the start button while foot is off the brakes.
Then one can push start. But I don't think you could do a true dead battery push start cause there isn't any...
Too bad that Getrag 238 that was in the Rams and Dakota's rated for towing 7200ish never existed.
Good thing it's not standing up to those 6 speed hemi swaps in wranglers.
Wouldn't want Jeep to stumble on something that fits in the jk with nothing more than a modified crossmember.
All sarcasm...
One possibility is that this may actually end up being a rebadged ram rebel. Supposedly the TRX concept they showed a while back with the de-tuned hellcat hemi has the green light, possibly with a 426 NA option.
It would not surprise me at all to see a ram with a jeep grill in the near future...
back when I researched putting an ecodiesel in my dakota, it seemed feasible from what I could find.
You would have to russel up one of the Getrag 238 6 speeds the rams and dakotas used around 2005-2008. These are the manuals they use behind the 6.4 hemi jk swaps without issues. Probably would...
If I knew the dakota was going to be offered with similar 4wd system hardware (4:1, lockers, solid axles, etc) and it was going to come with a bed that I could actually fit my fishing poles in I would happily wait for it.
Unfortunately, given the extra couple year delay they have slated for it...
