Most of these aftermarket companies seem to have their own recipe for a spacer lift. it's nearly impossible to know who is correct. For example; the AEV 2" spacer lift uses poly spacers, and it includes swaybar links and even shims for the carrier-bearing. Then the Iron-Rock kit is steel...
I'm a fan. I have been into Jeeps and off-roading for the last 25+ years and it seems that most people hate white lettering on their tires. What about you? Post some pictures if you have some on your Glad8tor.
The Bronco looks like it will be a great little ride. And, the Wrangler needs some competition to keep it on top. I'm sure on the Bronco 6G site there are plenty of Jeep owners making the switch. All good, in my opinion, the Jeep vs. Ford shootouts will be stellar.
Just my two cents...I happen to know a couple of the Engineers at AEV. Both of them were ex-Chrysler (back when they were called that still) working on Wrangler programs, both are total Jeep fanatics. I've been to Moab and a few Jeep Jamboree's with them and I can attest that they are not your...
Good to read a "real-world" account of this. On paper, a 315/70/17 (about 34.5 size tire) and a factory 255/75/17 (about a 32 size tire) is around a 7 to 8% increase in diameter. It's strange just how much this impacts driveability. Then again, the width is quite a bit wider (like a 24%...
On my 2018 JLU the start/stop quit working (thankfully). When I had it in the dealer for a seat heater replacement, they noticed the start/stop wasn't working so they replaced the axillary battery. It worked for a month, maybe two, then quite again. That was in 2018, hasn't worked since, haven't...
A lot of it comes down to payload; you, your cargo, and your tongue weight. Even the other vehicles you mentioned, on paper, can tow more than they should tow comfortably. My 1500 Ram was capable of towing our 30ft. travel trailer spec. wise, but when it was loaded and on a windy day, the pucker...
Could they - yes. But you have to remember that people already bitch a storm about Gladiator prices. Every time they add something like this that "would be nice" it adds complexity (design) and more components (cost). Not that long ago we all drove without a camera and lived.
Thanks for the write-up on this. I know you said that you don't plan on towing, but if anyone else on here tows with the AEV kit, I'd be interested to see how it changed from factory (if indeed it did). Thanks
There are FMVSS requirements for line of sight on rearview cameras. Putting one on the roof would not work (plus would not be there when you take the roof off). Nor would the bumper for a myriad of reasons. The only solution, for now, is the tailgate.
I for one would be happy if fewer people waved. Since Jeep's have become so mainstream, waving lost its uniqueness in my opinion. I've owned Wrangler's since 1998, way before they got so popular. It was rare to see another TJ or YJ on the road so, ya waved when you saw one. It was sort of like a...
Believe it or not, I worked for the company that makes these cameras. In fact, I worked in Warranty for the company so I have seen every possible customer induced atrocity that people can do to these cameras. Adding a wash nozzle is probably your best bet. It's not going to hurt the camera in...
