My Gladi came from the factory with a soft cover that rolled up and was lightweight. Protected what was in the bed from the elements. Replaced it with a MOPAR hard yeti-fold that gave it added security. Both are worthwhile additions.
Not my thing, but thank God we live in America where all of us can make choices.. I you didn’t write the check for it, your opinions and votes don’t matter. Best Jeep is the one in your driveway.
This is how my 17 JKU ended up after 16 hours of ownership and 75 miles on the odometer. A driver ran a red light , and the impact twisted the frame. 11 weeks and $23,000 later I had my new new Jeep back.
Have the frame inspected before you sign any settlement.
I had WeatherTechs in my JKU and have factory MOPARs that came with my JTO. The WeatherTechs fit well, but are more plastic that tend to be slippery when wet. The MOPARs are more rubbery and slip less when wet. Both are easy to clean. My preference is for the MOPARs.
Bought one on Amazon. Watched a replacement video on my IPad. Easy task that took less than 3 minutes. At 20,000 it was dirty. Dont pay a dealer to replace it - so easy to DIY!
Pick a couple of models that interest you, and test drive them on city streets, country roads, and the interstate. I drove both an Overland and a Mojave In September, 20. Really really liked the Mojave, but it was very hard to keep the steering centered in comparison to the Overland I bought...
The update is a colossal PIA. With the last Garmen I bought at Walmart for a fraction of the price for in-screen systems for my cars the updates were free. Love the Uconnect system; hate the map update system and not feeling any love about the cost to update it.
When I bought in Sept 2020 i test drove a Mojave and an Overland. Loved the Mojave, but it steered like a used car from the 50s. Bought the Overland and traveled 17,000 great miles - towing a travel trailer 3,400 of those miles. The Mojave may have had the first gen problem steering box, needed...
Towing a lighter TT without Max Tow. 3,400 pounds dry with 350 pounds at hitch. Mopar brake controller, Equalizer weight distribution / sway control hitch, and Gladiator tow package. Have towed 3,400 miles with no problems and good control. Even survived a near-death experience when a jackalow...
Test drive the models that interest you. Take them on the highway, in the city, and on the twistys that you will drive daily. I liked the Rubicon, thought I wanted a Mojave, and bought an Overland after test driving them.
So far I have towed our 3,500 pound trailer 3,600 of the 16,000 miles on...
Drove a 17 JKUS for 3 years - steering was fine. Wanted a JT in Sept 20. Test drove an Overland, and it rode and steered just fine. Really loved a 20 JT Mojave that I next test drove. The Mojave rode well, looked great, had all the right colors and options. Wanted it badly, but not enough to get...
16 hours after I bought a new 17 JKU a driver running a red light hit my front bumper. It spun me 180*. Looked like minor damage. The body shop got frame rails. It turned out the torsion from the hit twisted the frame rails, and it needed a complete new frame. 11 weeks and $23,000 later I got my...
4 1/2. My first Jeep was a mid-90s Cherokee Country. My second, a first gen Liberty. Loved my 17 JKU Sahara, but needed a better tow vehicle which is my 20 Overland. The 1/2 - a 99 Durango - a Dodge with many parts from the Jeep parts bin. The Overland is awesome, but wow was that green...
Last fall we ordered a a Gulfstream Vintage Cruiser 19CSK. 3,400 pound trailer (23’ including the trailer tounge). Our Jeep dealer installed the MOPAR trailer brake controller. The RV dealer installed the Equalizer weight distribution/sway control hitch and set it up for us. Mid January towed...
Both. I’m not hauling concrete or trying to pull a 55’ trailer. Gobi Wan pulls our 19’ 3,400 pound camper just fine. It’s so much easier to put the kayaks in the bed instead of on the roof in J cradles on the 17 JKU We traded. Bought it for camping, fishing, kayaking, and having fun. Love to...
