A lot of work, but oh so fun!
Thanks!! It is worth the wait to make it happen. I've seen video of folks doing it with stock Rubicons, but that would be a ton of work and rock stacking... not to mention the stress. I will have to find a the vid of a crazy guy who literally did it the day after...
Well what can I say... my Overlanding Gladiator completed a 4x4/jeep bucket list trip to the Rubicon Trail! My Daily Driver on 37s and the @Clayton Off Road Overland Plus 2.5in lift took on the trail. I went with heavily modified rigs and experienced drivers/spotters which was invaluable. On...
Sounds great! I will be sure to let you know. Last winter we did some snow wheeling not too far from you in Tahoe and Nevada City. So we might just come to you! :CWL:
Oh and the video of course which has a lot more content. Take a look and definitely give the trip a consideration for the day or a overnight/weekend trip:
There's a lot to explore in Lake County and Mendocino National Forest. I am going to start a thread documenting this trip and future ones. We took a trip out to High Valley Trail with beautiful view over looking Clear Lake. A lot of interesting terrain changes and unfortunately more deadfall...
The Overland was the best vehicle based on what you told them. You didn't option it up enough was the problem. I wouldn't sweat it man. Enjoy your Overland like a ton of people do here. If you want to go for more hardcore off road start upgrading it up or sell it for a Rubi.
Solid point... I would counter that you're referring to the wildtrak w/ the 35s in the sasquatch package... that would be like the equivalent of us putting 35s/37s with a wider track. So I would still stick with the comparison of base jeep vs base bronco.
This thread is a great resource for tire weight and I've had it bookmarked for awhile.

I ultimately went with Cooper's Discoverer STT Pros. A balance of toughness, lighter...
The bronco is closer to width to the Jeep than an F150? I love the sh*t talkin, but not entirely accurate.
Bronco:
Vehicle width without mirrors (in.)
75.9 (base)
Jeep JL Wrangler
Overall Width: 73.8 (1,875)
Ford F150
XL 2dr Regular Cab 8 ft. LB 4WD (3.3L 6cyl 6A)
79.9 in.
Finally getting around to posting pics from Part 1 of Nordhoff Peak. Here you all go!
This trail was awesome because you needed a permit/combination to get into it. Keeps the riff raff away and basically gives you the trail and the 2 peaks to yourself!
Fog and visibility was something...
