Well been a while since any updates.
Finally found a cheap set of springs, bonus they came with the Fox shocks that went on the JLU and a set of airlift bags I will eventually put in the JT. JLRD springs
Also decided to see if I could remove the hard top bolts without folding the seats down...
Here is another option. Someone on the JL forum recently brought these to my attention. They actually look pretty decent and are relatively cheap cost wise. Wish the winch mount was recessed. Rears look nice as well.

Not so much to but for. Picked up some JTRD springs to throw on the front of the Max tow to compensate for the heavy front bumper and eventual winch. For $150 I got springs, shocks, and to my surprise some airlift bags ?
Shocks are already on the JLU replacing the JLUR shocks.
It wouldn’t scare me. What motor does it have?
Reports from the JL sport guys are the 2.0T is just fine power wise for 35s and live able for 37s. The 3.6 is live able with 35s and a dog with 37s.
Stock sport axles have been holding up rather well with 35s and pretty good wheeling.
No real pictures. Just grab a tube of flowable silicone and run it across the top. I used half a tube, let it dry, tested. There was still a single leak so I went over it with the other half. No more leak.
Flowable silicone is sold for this purpose and works amazing. I’m honestly surprised it’s...
Honestly the key to all this discussion is can we get a motor that has power and is an affordable option. I an hopeful the 3.0TT finds its way into that category the way the 2.0T did on the JL.
The JT should have had something like that from the start as it’s “base” motor.
You certainly could. Depending on how much you plan to beat it, powder coating kind of sucks at times. I am always torn when refinishing bumpers on anything I wheel. Rattle can fades, but is easy to touch up when I scratch it. Powder coating holds up to fading better but chips easier when...
One thing to consider as well to the OP. The Brake lock differential is very effective. It is not a complete replacement for a locker. But it flat out works.
Demonstration in the video. I was coming out of a creek climbing a ledge that my bumper was hitting. That’s with my JLU Sport. No...
I don’t disagree. But it comes with the premium up front, fuel, maintenance and weight costs.
If diesels didn’t have all the emissions crap these days it would be a no brainer. The reliability of a mechanical injected Cummins 4bt would be amazing in an overlanding rig.
I prefer it as well but the two Jeeps are being built for different things. Figured the full width was a better choice for the long term plan in the JT. Plus it was dirt cheap on FB.
One thing to consider is the RR HD is actually pretty light for a steel bumper. Supposedly it used a stronger...
It depends as with every motor. I’ve built 5.0ls that loved high end hp. I’ve built stroke i6 that had a torque line that put its best torque out below 2100 rpm.
Having driven multiples of both nothing will ever replace the snap of a Jeep i6 for my wheeling preferences.
