I hear what you’re saying, pulsating whirring noise. Put the truck up on jacks and make sure you can turn full lock and not have the front tires rub the jack stands. Put it in 4H and see if you can hear it as it’s slowly driving,…steer back and forth in forward motion. Have someone outside that...
OP, let this video educate you on your question. I’ve written time stamp locations for quick access to what you’re wanting to know. The covered vail will also be yanked off the myth of “lifetime” oil, you’ll quickly recognize who in this forum are FCA insiders that have “signed on to go along”...
Is this your first service on it? How many miles on it and/or since last service?
If this is the first time service and you’ve got a gazzilian miles on it, forget it. I did one flush on my 21 at 24k kms but it had a glycol contamination problem and I thought I could save it by having a flush...
I would hate to have to deal with RTV every time I needed to service the diff. Why not locate longer bolts from a “bolt and nut” warehouse and swap them out? They’d have to be automotive bolts but should be able to find them.
I think it’s a solid idea and provides the best of both worlds. It’s definitely for the person that doesn’t want to tackle the complete job or as @g2020 said, he’s in a place where maintenance is forbidden but he has the ability to do the absolute minimal job in that place and not make a mess or...
It’s easy to over think something that’s “simple” to us wrenchers. One can get lost in all the options of what to do, the multiple ways each one of us does something, or this job specifically. In fact, when we do maintenance jobs like this dozens/hundreds of times, the job is nothing and are...
The trans service will eat up most of that cost, but I’m surprised they included the transmission in the quote with only 34K miles. I guess money is money so why not. A better reason to throw that in to is because it’s a rotating component that wears, so it’s just good maintenance.
The diffs...
Here’s a quick video. It gives you a general idea how simple it is. You DONT have to take the door off like this guy did. I never broke any clips when I removed my panels.
I almost had this situation in my last truck when the engine was replaced and tech installed 6 litres to an already filled crankcase that had 6 litres in it. So I had to do a 1600 km road trip as soon as I picked it up and when I got back home and performed the oil change, 12 litres came out...
Concerning the 23 3.6, the filter for the 850RE is not sold as a single item, it doesn’t have a part #. If you only need the filter, one must buy the whole pan, filter gasket kit…. However, if you check earlier years like 21, the filter is sold separately and has a part # and fits the 23.
