Are you saying the part time case (2H/4H/N/4Lo) is having issues, or the full time case (2H/4HPart/4HFull/N/4Lo) is having issues?
I would assume the full time capable case would have additional issues when trying to use in full time, since that allows slippage in the case between front and...
As long as the pattern is good and everything is in spec, sometimes aftermarket gears just talk to you. Not ever single gear set will be quiet, especially when you go above 4.56, the pinion just gets too small.
I wish a company would make a "Pinion Kit" for these diffs, Yukon use to make them...
Open it a bit with the Yukons.
Also make sure the carrier is in there tight, when I did mine I put new carrier bearings in but reused the same carrier, and actually had to add about .01 worth of shim to the carrier to get it to fit snugly in the housing.
It's pretty apparent the tail bearing...
The yukon (and most other aftermarket gears) are a 5-cut gear, the dana-spicer gears are a 2-cut gear.
When spicer calls for a 3-6 thou for the backlash, that is on their 2-cut gears. Aftermarket 5-cut gears should be set with a larger backlash. Check the Yukon spec for the backlash and ensure...
second this, I did the 5.13's, but they are so close you really won't notice a difference in the two. about the same difference as a brand new set of Mud Terrains and a worn down set of mud terrains.
love my 37" BFG KO2s. I ran for a year before I regeared. It's nice to have but I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessary, guess it depends on how you drive. The 3.6 moved fine and wheeled fine with the 37's and 4.10's. I bought a boat and the regear was more needed towing more.
I'm in the LIlburn/Snellville area, right near Stone Mountain Park.
I ran 37's for a year before I regeared, it won't kill anything but it's nice to have the extra low end, especially if you wheel a ton or pull a trailer regularly. I actually haven't had time to do my front yet, I just did my...
Brand new set of (4) 37” BFG ATs. I bought these for my truck from Walmart and Walmart said they couldn’t mount them, so I cancelled my order with Walmart and bought them from discount tire instead. Turns out Walmart didn’t cancel my order and the tires showed up 2 days later.
If they don’t sell...
Most places have them at $460, but found them on-sale at walmart for less and had Discount tire price match. the order from walmart is still pending and if it doesn't cancel I'll have a set of AT's to sell also, or return them to walmart
I have a set of 37” BFG KM3 MT mud terrain tires for sale. Nothing wrong with the tires, I got called back to the office and I’m going to be doing more highway driving so I switched out to the same size BFG ATs.
Tires have about 6,000 miles on them, rotated twice, in excellent shape. Tread...
Yea you would get the same thing with a chop. To be clear I was running a full width bumper too, the tires rubbed the bumper before the fenders, but I didn't like the look of the stubby bumper and factory fenders, so I did both at the same time.
If the tires were just rubbing plastic I would...
I'd say definitely not.
What hurts the JL and JT more than anything else is its aerodynamics. If you are traveling at a fast enough speed that 4.10's would be over-reving, you're MPG has already tanked because of the wind resistance.
on the flip side you'll get slightly better MPGs around...
It's do-able, but you won't win any races. running 37" BFG MTs with the 4.10s, but have 5.13's sitting waiting to be installed. MPGs really aren't that bad, with the Jeep it's more about aerodynamics than anything else, if you run 80 it won't matter what gears you have your mileage will suck...
I have the APOC adjustable control arms on mine currently. They come with rubber/poly bushings, which I will keep on my Gladiator until the warranty is up (or I start doing more stupid things with it). At that point the threaded part is standard thread and I'll remove the poly bushing side and...
You aren't going to learn if you don't push it.
Right now, invest in some basic recovery gear (soft shackles, snatch strap, traction board). Don't use chains as snatch strap, and don't use a trailer hitch as a recovery point, basic but safe. Even a hand come-along or a farm jack can be used as...
I use to do it, for smoothening out the ride on a rough road it works fine, but as stated above when you really get to flexing the side that's still connected you have a better potential to get things hung up or hit things. It can also overextend the sway bar bushing that is left connected...
