Update 8/9/2021
Over the past few days, we've been finalizing our inventory. We actually keep an Evernote with everything we carry. So not only do we know what we have, but where specifically in the vehicle it is located.
I noticed our airbags were flat and we had to get that fixed. Busted an...
Likewise. Hope you are able to make it. We'll be in the DIY Showcase area if you are able to come out. We had a great night. Went out to a local seafood restaurant to celebrate.
Semper Paratus Jeff! Yeah, definitely worth looking into. We'll be in Loveland, CO for Overland Expo Mountain West at the end of August. We'll be in the Denver area a few days before as I need to stop back by Juniper Overland too. Will you be at Expo?
We are running the AEV Snorkel with the Sy-Klone pre-filter which really helps to keep the filter clean. Sorry I can't help you with your brand of choice as I don't have experience with it. But the AEV is definitely worth a look unless it doesn't work with your build. ~ E
Not running that setup, but looks really useful if you are looking to keep the bed of the JT available for use.
As far as storage for your gear goes, you'll have the same options as other JT owners, the cab and whatever you can fit next to you in the bed while sleeping unless you choose to tow...
I can't be of much help to you ChimeraJT as I don't have the diesel and your questions are all related to that. What caught my attention was your title about your wilderness trip. I'm a full-time overlander so in that area I can be a resource if you'd like any thoughts on that side of the house...
What I love about your post is that you are dissuaded at all and that you'll still be pursuing your goal by building it yourself.
I have much respect for people who have not only the inclination, but the ability to build things. Unfortunately when the good Lord was handing out those skills, I...
Totally understand that. Being a child of the 70s myself and a teen in the 80s, I get it. We used to do that all the time too. I remember sleeping in the back of our Chevy Vega station wagon and having some epic memories as a result. Road trips back then were awesome and I"m right there with you...
Based on the recommendations of some very experienced overlanders (Scott Brady, Dan Grec, and Chris Shontz who are friends of mine) We've gone with the BFG KO2 34 10.50 ATs. These are the tires they recommend for global travel, so pretty sure they'd be worth a look for the East Coast. Hope that...
IMO overlanding isn't even about off-road travel or car camping.
Sure off-road can certainly be part of it, and so can car camping.
But at the end of the day overlanding is really about extended, self-reliant, vehicle based adventure travel where different micro cultures are experienced and...
We got our Alu-Cab Canopy Camper and have just "completed" our build. (I put that in quotes because as you know it never seems we are done with the details)
But here is a photo:
We put the full build here if interested.
We're so ready to put this unit to the test. I've got a few more...
This is an interesting thread to watch from my perspective. I'm an Alu-Cab Canopy Camper owner (which has not been discussed in this thread as an option) But I'm interested to see how y'all like the SP and the GFC V2. Also another forum user posted about another option coming out called the...
First time seeing the TrailFort was your post. I'm assuming you have it by now since you posted that you'd have it in February. Congrats on that!
So how do you like it? Any update? Did you make your video and can you provide a link?
Mark, thank you for taking the time to watch our videos. Really appreciate that. Much more to come as we start our global journey. Thank you for your service as well. I understand to some degree the brokenness, and the freedom that the Jeep brand vehicle provides. So glad you are looking to...
Always have time for folks. At least I try and make time. I wish I had some folks when I first started, it can be like drinking from a firehose.
So here are some "pro-tips" when it comes to overlanding (specifically in North America)
1. Whenever possible pick the trim for your vehicle of...
Thanks! It feels great to have the major portion of the build done finally. We are in shakedown phase now. We need to put the rig through its paces between now and early October here in the USA and make sure all systems are functional. If all goes well, we look to cross the border south in just...
Hi John!
If I were building out a Gladiator for overlanding strictly in North America, it would be a completely different build. I would do a lot of things differently. The diesel is a GREAT call for North American travels!
DAUNTLESS is specifically built with global travel in mind. So if...
