Around here where the speed limits are 60mph I barely noticed a difference when test driving a 2021 w/ hardtop over my soft top, but above 75-80 it’s a night and day difference.
I was also a little nervous that the wrap around lights wouldn’t be “Jeep” enough, but I don’t think that’ll be an issue here. These look awesome!
I think it’d still be a good idea to have these sit a little bit proud of that recessed sheet metal if possible.
Not to mention most people around where I live in the SF bay have to park on the street and couldn’t consistently charge their cars at home if they wanted to. I do think the infrastructure issue is solvable, but not nearly as exciting as shiny new electric toys.
Of course you can create a market. Most people don’t know what they want until they see it. Granted it won’t last long if you can’t generate the demand.
I’m definitely jumping the gun here, but I wanted to get a thread going about the new uconnect 5 (not the 5” base model uconnect 4) coming out this year. I imagine this system will eventually make it to the JL/JT platforms and fingers crossed it would be plug and play into current models...
Yeah, if it doesn’t fit the soft top lines it’s a waste of time for me. I’ll hold any judgement until we see the final product, but I hope it’s not too far from the original render concepts.
Also, the Brake Locking Differential (BLD) is not an option but part of the traction control system. It essentially uses the brakes to force torque through the wheels with traction. It’s great in a pinch and worlds ahead of anything in the JKs, but I wouldn’t recommend relying on it for extended...
Yup, Same low gear ratio as the sport. To be clear though, the truck is still in 2wd by default and only engages the front axle if the computer senses a loss in traction. I don’t have any experience with this system, but I think they’ve been doing it for awhile in other vehicles.
If you like the styling and don’t need the 4:1 crawl ratio and lockers, go with the the overland. I’ve found the BLD to be more than adequate on moderate-hard trails and may be worth while to get the full time 4wd that comes in the overland if you live in a rainy/snowy area.
Great list. I meant to start something like this a couple weeks ago after busting my steering stabilizer on the trail. Definitely worth picking up an OEM stabilizer for like $40 if you aren’t going to relocate the thing. It’s in a very vulnerable spot and will make for a slow ride home if you...
Took these off to wash them and decided I actually like my lighter oem interior better. It’s a full set for jt cloth seats with the matching center console. I’ll also include a matching iPhone charge cable just for fun. The suede stays comfortable to the touch in the cold and with the top down...
