I'm refering to these guys,
The, "all you gotta do" guys.
You're about to find out, in truth, what all you gotta do. And even with a comprehensive kit, it's substantial.
I've done over two dozen bastard engine swaps in my life. I currently own eight, running, driving vehicles. 5 of them have engines not available in them as built.
Always delighted to see how easy peasy it is to just slap em on in there from folks driving around with stock power trains 😂
This, this is the kind of build a typical JL/JT owner isn't doing. Because they're new and expensive and people need to drive them to their jobs to pay for them lol.
All makes sense to me, I'm not trying to judge anyone for it. I'm glad I'll have one in five years to cut up lol.
A big point in favor of my Gladiator purchase, was the fact that, stock out of the box it'll do almost everything I want in a trail rig, in Michigan, from a daily driver.
And if I do want, need, more.. .I can just buy it, I don't have to CAD design, plasma cut, bend, weld... Like I did my...
I got better mileage with 4.88's and stock 32's lol.
These should come with 4.56 standard and 4.88 optional.
Kayla from accounting would never know the difference in her mall rig anyway, and the rest of us would be happier.
99% of Jeeps running up and down the road are stock other than some "Jeep Hair Don't Care" or leopard print or "Jeeps are for girls" stickers.
The 1% that are altered, 99% of those are a spacer lift, Methods, and 37's.
Doesn't matter, it's yours, do as you wish, enjoy how you see fit.
But...
Side jobs, extra curriculure work... If I don't see a immediate, clear path to double my money, I'm not even starting down the rabbit hole to do it.
But it's a free country, get out there and show us how cheap and easy it can be.
Because they can put new stickers on combinations of things they already make for way, way, way less money than kicking off niche jobs no supplier wants for 3k units a year.
I used to have to be pretty aggressive with the throttle to get it to go, especially in city traffic, mainly, like you said, to keep it kicked down and the RPM up. It runs much better now, IMO the Rubicons and Mojaves should have come with 4.88's.
We came back the Monday after our Friday purchase with some light mud and a small scratch that wiped off in the clear coat and 3 different sales people came out to marvel at the Jeep we just bought, express amazement that it wasn't actually some other Jeep, and we actually put it in harms way.
I have 4.88's and stock 285's on my Mojave.
It just changes what gear your in 2500-3500 in. Drives much nicer though, snappy, responsive, tows better, better MPG empty and loaded.
