Tried my Polaris 2006 500 HO Sportsman and its was right on the lip of the tailgate. For me its just to much weight on the very edge of the tailgate for me to be happy with it. Its going to stay on the trailer.
Something else you may be experiencing is that cold weather takes a little more fuel to get the engine and everything else up to temperature. My mileage has dropped with the drop in temperature in the last month.
There is an old way to test for leaks. Learned this years ago but it still works today. You will need; heavy cardboard, a leaf blower or very good shop vacuum and a length of hose for the leaf blower to connect to the window. Dryer venting hose works well.

I won't recommend a tire BC everyone has a favorite. But a 3 peak with as much siping as you can get will be the best in ice and snow. Most like the KO2 or KO3 because of this feature.
Running about a 6 degree caster on my 22 Rubicon and its better (more docile) on the highway.

Has the dealer taken a look at the inside of Cyl. 1 ? They should have a borescope around the shop since they are relatively cheap today. Just a way to verify if anything looks like a problem inside.
