  1. I Don’t Like Campers Trip Journal: Tonto National Forest Trip With Gladiator, ZR2, Canyon

I'm impressed that that only weighs ~500 lbs loaded, leaving plenty of remaining payload for you and supplies. How's the working space inside? Andrew St. Pierre with 4xOverland had a similar setup for him and his wife. Also, how easy is that to remove if you need to use your bed for something else?
  2. I Don’t Like Campers Trip Journal: Tonto National Forest Trip With Gladiator, ZR2, Canyon

I think that's the natural progression. I joke with my wife that we might as well buy an RV now, because that's where we're headed.
  3. I Don’t Like Campers Trip Journal: Tonto National Forest Trip With Gladiator, ZR2, Canyon

My wife may be my ultimate deciding factor. She likes to camp with me but because of her Raynaud's disease, she's limited to more temperate months. I've towed generators for years for the film and production industry so I'm used to being hitched. I just don't like the liability of a camper...
  4. I Don’t Like Campers Trip Journal: Tonto National Forest Trip With Gladiator, ZR2, Canyon

How comfortable do you surmise a 6'3" person would be in that camper? I like the compact size and easily-accessible kitchen. I imagine it's light enough you can easily reposition it without the Jeep.
  5. I Don’t Like Campers Trip Journal: Tonto National Forest Trip With Gladiator, ZR2, Canyon

Slick setup. I've seen those trailers in person and they're the real deal. A local off-road supply shop takes them through Ozark National Forest and swears by them. How many people do you have on your trips in there?
  6. I Don’t Like Campers Trip Journal: Tonto National Forest Trip With Gladiator, ZR2, Canyon

It's a trade-off. He likes to use his camper as the camp centerpiece for camping and socializing. If he brings it we have to plan our routes accordingly to ensure he can make it down the trail.
  7. I Don’t Like Campers Trip Journal: Tonto National Forest Trip With Gladiator, ZR2, Canyon

Do any of you tow a camper off-road? I recently went on a trip with a buddy that towed a camper with his ZR2 and it was a PITA. I ended up having to drag the camper up and down the trail to camp for him. I understand campers provide comfort and simple shelter but for the places I like to go...
  8. Gladiator Rubicon vs Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Off-Road Comparison: My Take

I haven't ventured far down that path. Rock Hard or Artec is who I'm considering. I'm not 100% sure I need a gas tank skid and both of those kits are complete belly pan systems. I don't know if the gas tank skid is required to tie them together, and if not, if they'll sell me skids without the...
  9. Gladiator Rubicon vs Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Off-Road Comparison: My Take

Thank you! Upgradability, aftermarket support, and ease of customization are large points I overlooked- thank you for bringing them up. My buddy with the ZR2 was talking about the Bison package. He said the front steel winch bumper gives the truck even worse of an approach angle, and for that...
  10. Building With Purpose, Not Ego: Berserker Offroad Gladiator Build

Thank you. So far I haven't found a lift necessary. My '07 JK had a 4-5" "frenken-lift" on 35s. My '13 was on 32-35" tires, 2.5" lift. Then my JL I took on the trails completely stock. So now that I'm back to 35s, and I'm used to smaller tires, it feels massive. I'll lift it either if the...
  11. Building With Purpose, Not Ego: Berserker Offroad Gladiator Build

Here's a build update. I'm making steady and calculated modifications to my Jeep. Everything I do is functional and has a purpose. I'm not "ego-building" my Jeep, and instead, I'm upgrading things to maximize the utility, reliability, and versatility of my rig. "Starting Over" refers to this...
  12. Building With Purpose, Not Ego: Berserker Offroad Gladiator Build

I finally stepped up to 35s. I sent with Falken Wildpeak M/Ts on AEV Pintler wheels. For now, I'm staying with the stock suspension. In this video, I discuss why I won't be running 37s on this Gladiator. My decision to not go bigger than 35s is motivated purely by longevity, performance, and...
  13. 37 regrets

I have a Rubicon with an automatic transmission, and I went with 35" Falken MT's instead of 37s after much internal debate. I'm happy with my decision and don't regret it. The stock Rubicon suspension can fully flex with 35s whereas 37s require a lift and a host of other changes. It comes down...
  14. Gladiator Rubicon vs Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Off-Road Comparison: My Take

A long-time wheeling buddy and I traded in our built JKs for trucks. I got a JTR and he went with the ZRZ. He preferred to get a JT as well but he understandably couldn't swing the cost. Our adventure travel needs have changed over the years and we're no longer trying to conquer massive...
  15. Protecting Your Rear - Sheridan hitch mounted skid from Warfab

That's cool, thanks for sharing. I'll check it out. On my JKs, I bent the chain loops from bashing them so much.
  16. Installed winch on original factory plastic bumper

Nice execution. Are you concerned with the wire rope rubbing on the bull bar if you're pulling from a steep angle?
  17. Building With Purpose, Not Ego: Berserker Offroad Gladiator Build

Yesterday I took my Gladiator to Kansas Rocks where I've wheeled JKs for years. I wanted to see how capable it is and understand how cognizant I need to be of the breakover angle. The Jeep exceeded my expectations. I went in thinking I was driving a sled (conjuring memories of my "Big Guys Drag...
  18. Kansas City Metro Jeep Gladiators

Hey, man! Yep, I love it. I should have trusted my gut a year ago and stayed with it.
  19. Kansas City Metro Jeep Gladiators

I like that blackout look. What tonneau cover do you have?
  20. BuiltRight vs Mopar bed rails

Thank you for this thread, guys. I just ordered the Builtright, $260 shipped. It was $100 cheaper than the Mopar kit had I ordered it from BAM Wholesale. I like that the superstrut parts are easy to come by which gives me more options for customization later. Also, I get warm fuzzies knowing I'm...
