I’ve notice it gets worse for me in the afternoon commute when there are semi trucks everywhere. Here in middle GA it can also get very windy on I75. It’s so hard to explain but it does suck to have to apply constant input. Although mine has greatly improved it’s still not where I am happy...
So today I took at 300 mile round trip ride on Interstate 75 driving roughly between 65 and 80mph. It looks like after everything I have done so far it has made a huge difference. The JT tracks great and doesn't require anywhere near as much driver input as it did when I purchased it. There...
I meant to take pictures, maybe I will do so when I get home.
What I don’t understand is how most aftermarket steering components call for much higher torque values for example the tie rod steer smart calls for 130lb vs stock calling for around 47lbs
honestly to soon to tell because I feel as it helped but it can be placebo because how badly I want it fixed lol.
I test drive it 60miles round trip on the interstate yesterday but I was also towing which affects the vehicle so I still need to drive it some more under normal hwy conditions.
a bunch of members on the JL forums had the same findings on their JL. I’m not sure what’s going on. During the manufacturing process they use those torque limiting impact guns that are programmed to a certain torque setting but it seems they may not be working correctly lol
it was insane as I was tightening Down the tie rod and drag link at the knuckles it literally took a bunch of pulls on the torque wrench before finally hitting the 47 ft lb torque spec from the service manual
I just checked and the Lower ball joints, drag links at the knuckles, Track bar at the axle and the Tie rods were all loose and not in spec. I tightened them all to spec and will drive later to see if I see a difference. The worse of them all were the drag link and the tie rod. They were...
I got the interior done on my wife’s JL with Katzkin leathers. It’s amazing quality and it was nice to have that new leather smell while it lasted lol :)
I no longer believe its a steering box issues. Wifes JL had major wandering with her sahara on 18" wheels. We switched out her wheels to the 17" rubicons with the 33" KO2, Air them down to 31psi and also torqued all suspension components which some were disgustingly loose. After all this, her...
