  3. Engine Break in Procedure

I fool around with some old big diesel tractors and one of the most important things you do after an upper rebuild ( the cylinders) is take that puppy out and put it to hard work. The heavy load is what seats the rings to cylinder walls (wears them in nice and tight) . if not the cyl. walls will...

  9. So, is the tailgate of the Gladiator NOT metal?

Sure, it's aluminum, it's lighter and doesn't rust. It may dent easier and difficult if not impossible to straighten without replacement. But in the long run, it's fuckin Jeep, if it doesn't get banged up then you just bought it for show and tell. I bought mine to use and all that aluminum...
  10. Plastic Bed Liner keep/remove

And you have pulled it out and checked what's going on underneath it? I want pics. My experience is drop in liners rub, scuff, scratch and wear down the paint to bare metal. They hold moisture underneath whether it leaks in or gets there as condensation. Spray in liners are they way to go...

  17. I'm building my idea of a perfect (for me) Gladiator rack

I see what you mean now as I went thru like 30 some pages of that. I for sure wouldn't touch a steel one. I wonder how bad the aluminum ones are. Its the only one so far I found with brackets that clear the tonneau cover. It sure would be easy to make a few pieces to extend it up another few...
  18. I'm building my idea of a perfect (for me) Gladiator rack

Well you said poor paint and rusting. was the structural engineering poor? was the product poor other than paint issues? Those I can live with to get something that works to my needs. But anyway I'll google the issues to see what's up.
  19. I'm building my idea of a perfect (for me) Gladiator rack

Rust and paint? I'm not concerned as I'll get the aluminum one (no rust issues) and they way I use my trucks, spray bomb touch-ups are just a fact of life.
