Highly doubt it.
a) Perspective is skewed (look at the valve stem, center cap, and fact that the right side of the tire appears larger than the left for reference) - my phone camera sucks at times
b) I already have 40x13.50r17 tires (same size) on it and do not rub even under full articulation...
Got the Hothead Headliners Bestop Sunrider headliner and installed it - makes a massive difference.
Got the new Dobinson 880-1210lb rear coils installed and it sits with no air in the airbags, where it required 30PSI to sit before. Seems like a big improvement... almost wish I wouldn't have...
They're rebuildable fairly cheap if they start clicking, though I've never had to do it. $149 for the kit, plus grease I assume.
Grease them at tire rotation. Rotate every 5K. Solves two problems at once.
On the contrary, I feel the price is quite reasonable. At least when you compare it to the cost of the Sunrider top itself. The only thing is the Sunrider should come with something like this from the factory... and if it did, I feel like they'd charge at least what Hothead is charging.
Installed a Wolfbox G930 while I'm waiting for other stuff... looking at these photos the trim looks off, but I didn't notice it in person. Something to check in the morning.
I realize they're not mounted, but I feel this is a bit more difference than mounting would account for.
Brand new Maxxis RAZR MT on the Jeep with a brand new Toyo MT unmounted beside it. Both 40X13.50R17. The mfg specs are listed as 39.9x14.3 for the RAZR and 39.7x14.4 for the Toyo. I'll mount...
I twisted shafts first, and ball joints went second. Steering got sloppy fairly quick so I upgraded it all. That was on 37s. Went to 40s after a while and my JTRD is also on 40s. When I put 37s on my JLUR, it took me about five miles to decide to regear to 5.13. So for 37s, if I had to choose an...
I also twisted the rear splines on it shortly after moving to 37s. You obviously take a lot more care not to damage things, while I prefer to build them up and send it. I'm sure driving style plays a large role in what is necessary as well.
I think you missed some nuance. The larger you go and more time you spend off-road, the more you have to address for each point. If you are throwing 37s on and spend 98% of your time on paved roads, you can get away without a lot of investment. Which is what I alluded to in my post.
I destroyed...
1) Regear. The people who tell you "it is fine" are delusional and/or trying to justify being too cheap to do so.
2) Lift kit (don't cheap out) including geometry corrections.
3) Upgrade your ball joints and all steering linkage.
4) Also upgrade your axle shafts and/or consider other axle...
Is there any way that this could ship sooner? I'm about to potentially be without mail access for several months, starting in about two weeks and would love to get my hands on one before then.
Ended up ordering a set of Traction Off Road Friction Double Beadlocks for a variety of reasons, including the ability to do my own tire work. I ordered a set for my JL several years back and had them for a couple days before developing the engine issues that resulted in getting rid of it. The...
Went for a drive yesterday and experienced unrecoverable death wobble (where you have to slow to almost a stop to regain control) twice within a few miles. I had put several hundred miles on the setup by that point and had not experienced that at all. Came back to my shop and pulled everything...
Air bags are working great but I decided to order the C29-249VB (880-1210lb constant load) coils as well. Also ordered a rear truss kit and am in the process of ordering the Shift Autowerx frame reinforcement kit, or if that falls through (after talking to someone else on this forum about that...
