Yeah, that's what I would have thought. I asked because I thought they were 37s (bad eye), and some people on this forum say that they are running 37s with the 3.6 on Rubicon gears (4.10) with no problems. I had 4.56 gears in my 3.6 Wrangler on 35s, so I think 4.88 would be about right for 37s...
Got it - thanks! Yeah, this is why I'm not a fan of the 392 in either the Wrangler or the Gladiator. Given the changes Jeep already made to the Gladiator when compared to the Wrangler, it seems like the 5.7 might work, but as some have already said - it seems pretty unlikely that it will ever...
Did you re-gear or are you still on stock gears (3.73)? And are those 37s? If you are happy turning 37s and pulling a smallish trailer on stock gears that is a pretty strong endorsement for the 3.0!
You know more about this than me - so what do you think? If the JT chassis can handle the EcoDiesel couldn't it handle a 5.7 Hemi? Sure, you'd need different engine mounts, but would you need to upgrade expensive stuff like axles? I think the EcoDiesel JT comes with the heavier duty 8-speed...
How do you like the diesel, and what are your plans with the truck? Did you go King just to match your paint job ;) Looks like its going to be awesome!
Yeah, buying a set of Dana Spicer Ultimate 60s off the shelf is about 15K, but subtract the cost of the axles you are not buying from that - because you are getting this from the factory (hypothetically) - and not replacing your factory axles with aftermarket ones. What do stock Gladiator axles...
You misunderstood my post: I was saying that the Ecodiesel is ~130 HP down from the 5.7 Hemi, and that it has ~30 more pound/feet of torque. I was comparing the EcoDiesel to the 5.7 because Jeep is already offering the EcoDiesel in the Gladiator, so I was asking how much they would need to...
Yeah, the Hemi will play nice with all the FCA computer thingies and electronics. MoTech in Las Vegas is probably the company to work with if you want to drop a Chevy V8 into a Jeep. I believe that they have done hundreds of LS conversions: https://ww.lswrangler.com/index.html
Ahhh, good points. I was just thinking about the engine price - my bad.
What has FCA done with the EcoDiesel in terms of chassis, axles, brakes, springs? As far as I know, the front (and maybe rear) springs are stiffer to accommodate the extra 400 pounds of the diesel engine, but have they made...
I get your point about rattling the midsize market - it would be a bit of a paradigm shift. However, I think the mid-size market needs to be rattled. For too long, buyers of midsize trucks have had to choose between a bunch of naturally aspirated V6 engines, all of which have been under-powered...
Unfortunately I think you are right. The 5.7 should be a 2K or 3K upgrade over the 3.6, but whatever the reason (CAFE I would guess), FCA is not offering what seems to be the most logical engine choice for the JT. Wild speculation, but I would guess that sales of the Gladiator would double if...
Sorry to hear it. That's a major bummer. Maybe I should look for your thread, but I was wondering if you could keep this thread updated as to how things go?
According to Repair Pal: "The catalytic converter is covered by the vehicle's emissions warranty, which extends beyond the manufacturer's...
Not sure that makes it a "horrible video" - just not what you were looking for. I'm like you - I'd like to see more technical info - but watching the two of them have fun in their "new" Jeep was kind of sweet.
I would guess that this is Line-X not a wrap. Starwood is famous for Line-X-ing Jeeps. Here is a great article comparing Line-X to Dupont Kevlar paint for a Jeep (with the pros and cons of each). Its a must-read for anyone considering these options...
The 5.7 hands down - assuming that it came in at an appropriate price point for the 5.7 (it should be positioned between the 3.6 and the EcoDiesel). The regular truck 6.4 (410 HP and 429 lb/ft torque) would be my second choice. It would be a bit more money - but I'd still spring for it for sure...
Check out this video of frozen AluCab latches:
These South African companies make great over landing stuff, but they need to up their cold-weather game. They don’t have enough experience - yet- dealing with winter, and Winter is Coming!
Thread Revival!
In my experience, it is a little hard to connect the air hose to an ARB compressor once it is running (for filling up tires - not in relation to the compressor being used for lockers). You might want to re-wire your compressor so it only comes on when you turn it on. Nice Jeep!
This seems like an excellent article on the pros and cons of kevlar paint. Its a must read if you are considering it:
