As many above said—I drive in sand. I have only bogged once when the sand was deep and soft, it was raining so my treads were clogged and some a-hole in a Tacoma cut me off going over the dune. I tossed in these treads and was out in seconds. The sand was so soft that it spit one of the boards...
The Tazer takes care of what you need. I love mine and leave it plugged in for the Live functions. I highly encourage the extension cable. I have large hands so it was a problem getting to the SGW port. I got the cables out but had to get my wife (long, skinny fingers) to plug the extension...
Oracle is bright and very easy if you get the plug-and-play harness ($30 extra). You only need one since the hook up to the driver taillight runs a wire inside the bumper to the right side.
As people always say—it is a personal choice. Being a new Jeep owner, I got a Mojave because it had stock most of the things I wanted. Rear locker for sand, decent lift, bigger tires, suspension and leather, plus other stuff.
All that said, I don’t know if I NEED a lot of those things (classic...
I have the automatic Mojave for many reasons listed above:
- I love at the beach and drive the sand a lot—no plans to rock crawl. I always lock the rear diff but not sure I need it with OffRoad+. I only air down my tires when on a remote beach.
- I didn’t want to shift while hitting bumps on...
Same. A winch attached to sea oats won’t pull me out of anything. I have the kinetic ropes and traction boards. The latter has helped my once (and perfectly). I Have only used the kinetic rope to hold up my dock stairs while reattching them after a nor’easter. The winch looks very cool bit it...
I completely agree. Maybe that is why the price is just $50K with all those options on it? Or is the MSRP listed prior to what comes with it (leather seats, adaptive cruise, etc, etc). I would think the MSRP includes that stuff. Just questioning since $50K is around the base Mojave price.
I drilled through it when installing the drain pipes to a Rugged Ridge hard tonneau. It was soft plastic behind the spray in bed liner. Gotta be careful when drilling because the bit goes through quickly and you could nick the paint off the back of your cab which would, I assume, risk rust. I...
I just installed one and love it. I changed a lot of settings and many of the annoying things i wanted fixed are automatic if you leave it plugged in (like license plate light black-out when you put it in reverse).
I highly recommend getting the attached SGW extension. Once you unplug the SGW...
Congrats!!! Very happy for you. I was new to Jeep last June. My 30th anniversary was last week and my Jeep got new Oracle backup lights and a Tazer. I installed both yesterday. A lot of fun. On to thinking about what my Jeep wants for Father’s Day!!
After stretching my arms and back enough to actually be able to lay in the floor of my Jeep to find the SGW, I only lost 3/4 of a pint of blood disconnecting them.
I did buy the easy extender wire to disconnect before dealer visits. I just want to know the risk of leaving in because I bought for live features vs static things like cha gong tire size (which may come later!)
Agreed—great thread. I bit the bullet on the Tazer since it had multiple things I wanted. The license plate light kill in reverse was one of them. I have had three back surgeries so a back-up camera is waaaaaay easier than twisting around. Same reason I got the Oracle lights as well as the...
