  1. Sport S Capability

Many squishy mealy mouthed social media type responses so far. First legitimate question would be: Do you have an LSD? For 99% of off-roading and 100% of on-roading, LSD is superior to a user applied locker. Even with an open diff though, you would be able to traverse 95% of all off-road...
  2. 0w40 Euro spec motor oil in the 3.6 Pentastar PSU

Rotella T6 5w40 did go in at ~15k. We had a long trip scheduled and I procrastinated, so I changed the oil in a hurry and did not sample. Already have almost 5k on the T6. Averaged between 19-21mpg over the 3500 mile trip with T6 in the crankcase --hand calc'ing. I've been using 40 weight...
  3. Towing with 37s & Mopar Lift with 4.88s

He told us this when he told us his tow rating. I've not towed on 37's but I have towed heavy on factory 32.5s. IMO the Gladiator towed very well until about 60-65mph, then it got downright dangerous. I've had many good tow vehicles in the past so I believe I know what that means. Campers...
  4. Help with pulley

FWIW, in my experience, for an assessory to cause an out balance condition severe enough for you to notice, the problem will be visually and sometimes violently evident. Maybe have someone rev the engine to the RPM of greatest imbalance while you observe. When does it shake? In park-neutral too?
  5. Baxter Performance oil filter adapter

Guys, 99% of readers don’t understand the fundamentals of DP, CV’s, or how full flow oiling systems work —and that 100% okay in this case, because: Pentastar don’t have problems associated with lack of oil pressure/flow/lubrication at start-up. These Baxter devices are discretionary toys...
  6. Baxter Performance oil filter adapter

Pentastar don’t have problems associated with lack of oil pressure/flow/lubrication at start-up.
  7. Baxter Performance oil filter adapter

Wow, every so often someone curiously bumps these snake oil selective particle discriminator threads. It never changes the fact that zero people on any Baxter thread can ever point to a single Pentastar failure mode related to lack of oiling at start-up. I think that’s because Pentastar don’t...
  8. Is Jeep tracking my mileage and everything through U-Connect?

Yes, exactly. You’ve got it now. And like buying a heavy inefficient 4WD American icon, when you could just walk to work. And, like not being able to choose where you live and if your domicile may be larger that 220sq-ft, because nobody needs a house bigger than that and you have to be able...
  9. Is Jeep tracking my mileage and everything through U-Connect?

I and a few hundred million Chinamen would probably challenge your view on this. The CCP is a few steps ahead of the US in terms of authoritarianism. We are discussing this so we can start going in the opposite direction of the CCP. As for the food and bunker talk, that too we want to lessen...
  10. Is Jeep tracking my mileage and everything through U-Connect?

Straw-man argument. Although I respect the sentiment. History is full of these false justifications over the past 50 years. Just sticking to cars: “So buy a car without seatbelts then… …without fuel injection …without ABS …without stability control …without airbags …without the seatbelt door...
  11. Is LSD worth it?

People will likely advocate for whatever they have. I intentionally bought an LSD equipped model because it’s superior for 99.9999% of the terrain I encounter. Lockers are only really required for hyper-technical off-road. An LSD is superior for everything else. The perfect setup would be LSD...
  12. What is the hard top made of? Fiberglass?

Yes, fiberglass. From the smell on a hot day, I believe it’s a polyester rather than vinylester resin. It smells wonderful.
  13. Is Jeep tracking my mileage and everything through U-Connect?

This thread is nauseating with the diatribe from the anti-4th amendment crowd. Stop defending yourselves and read about expressed consent. Packaging a poison pill in a “free” product and then pointing to fine print is not expressed consent. None of this is even close to ethical. To answer...
  14. 3.0 ecodiesel

Diesels are great. The new modern diesels are a disaster. Cummins is the only one who can do them right still because they have an engine the physical size of tractor and the generous engine bay dimensions of the the Ram. It’s the ludicrous packaging constraints and foolish choice of V-banked...
  15. Oil Analysis First Oil change at 5K miles

Good on you for posting your data. I’m a diesel fan. I can’t make heads or tails of the VM Motori 3.0 though. I’ve watch the two tear-downs on the YT I Do Cars channel. Both had wiped out the mains, and then moved to the rod journal. The mains seemed to be the initial problem. I haven’t seen...
  16. Tacoma Breaks Down on Trail

Yeah, “poors” was just intended to be funny, hypocritical, and provocative at the same time. TFL’s in a tough spot. They’re trying to make a business out of it, while being honest and maintaining some objectivity. They’ve mentioned being blackballed in the past by Ford, GM, and Subaru for...
  17. Tacoma Breaks Down on Trail

Toyota builds the most overrated, underperforming, and most overpriced vehicles for sale in the US for the past 30 years. Americans who are Toyota superiority proponents are members of a voluntary death cult. …and, well, you know, the Gladiator only seems expensive to the poors… I watched the...
  18. Official EcoDiesel Oil and Filter Recommendations

Agreed. Rotella T6 is the best, universally available, inexpensive oil option. I run it in all my gasoline vehicles too, including my Pentastar as of my last OCI. I own a lot of vehicles. I’ve been acquainted with many gas vehicles running HDEO with multi-100k mile universally problem...
  19. Grind\rattle noise from rear (driving me insane)

I don’t see why that would be rattling either. Was something lying on it that you since moved? That the shiny spot that almost looks like it’s been welded on recently?
  20. Opinions on tyger brand?

Tyger 3-fold randomly picked by my daughter and bought off Amazon. For a ~$200 piece, I was very satisfied.
