Agreed, but it has been how many years now? Why the heck not just fix the problem (even if you had to wait for a batch to run out) on the newer vehicles. This isn't like a transmission where it would be a major component change...it's a steering box. So correct the problem with the new models...

I HEARD, no substantial evidence, that part of what they were doing was shutting down the PS pump where there was no input to the wheel. When you started to turn the wheel the pump kicked back on. Thus saving load on the alternator thus saving fuel consumption. It's the only reason I could see...

So new box, dealer says "luck of the draw" and now one that loosened up fairly quickly. Wonder what all of those "good" boxes will be like in a few years...or maybe not. This is sounding more like a "engineering" issue than a assembly...
