Fair point on the I6 and 8HP. I’m not a big fan of direct injection, but I have heard some good things about that BMW engine. And I suppose since it’s also in the Supra that’ll ensure there’s a decent aftermarket and parts availability in the future.

My JK pentastar EGR is on the rear passenger side of the engine. A total PITA to get to from the top. Some have had success changing it out through the wheel well. I’m not positive but I’d imagine it’s in the same place on the JT/JL platform.

I can only imagine the mess of codes, limp mode, and diagnostics time if that were to happen to a modern engine. Likely wouldn't even drive and would have to be towed.
