Did you purchase the winch at the time of placing your order or after the fact through the parts department? Just curious as I didn't see it as an option in the order guide.
Heck my '17 f150 super crew w/ the 3.5EB, heavy 35" MT tires, 20" aftermarket wheels, 6" lift components, max tow package, trifold hard tonneau cover & 36 gallons of a full gas tank weighs 5700lbs. And what the JT diesel has a 18.3 gal diesel tank + 5 gallons of def, I'm still 13 more gallons...
Have the Redarc installed in the wife's '18 GC. Love using it except when I get in after hooking up the camper and hit the brakes the first time and see that she mistakenly turned the dial on me lol.
Do you tow at 6k-12k' elevation 99% of the time? If not, then it's irrelevant. My wife has the 3.6 w/ 8speed and I can't wait to get rid of it, which is why I was exploring the EcoDiesel but then this whole payload thing came into play. And I definitely don't tow w/ my LJ considering the 4.0...
I was just using the diaper bag as an example because a kid may be in the future and anything that comes along with that. Trailer's GVWR is 3525lbs, I'm at 3395lbs loaded (includes all gear, 40-gal of water, 3-gal of diesel clothing & food for 7-8 days), trailer's dry weight is 2100lbs.
Right...
Exact reason I hit the brakes on ordering a diesel JTR.
932lbs payload
-400lb tongue weight of small offroad camper
-300lb wife & I combined
-150lbs (2 dogs)
-100lbs winch & plate
which puts me over already w/ no kid that the wife is pushing for, no carseat, no diaper bag, no larger spare tire...
Listen, I get it. But when you have a wife pressing to start a family and I have a fully capable truck right now with a huge cab and no concerns towing, I do have to take payload into account bc I know with a kid brings more gear to bring with us. Im looking at moving down from my truck and...
It’ll haul my 3400lb trailer (400lb tongue weight) and allow me, wife, 2 dogs, steel front bumper and winch but thats it. No room left in payload for anything in the bed. So Im having a hard time justifying that. Shall I tell the wife that a baby and its diaper bag needs to stay home because we...
This 11,800 GCWR for JTR diesel is 300lbs less than their marketing material specs posted earlier in this thread. Im sure guys wanting to tow would be looking for the definitive answer before they buy.
this is based on the JTR diesel. Sport diesel would have more payload.
I'm basing my numbers off of JTR diesel w/ hardtop, leather, front steel bumper w/ winch. I would be removing the rear seats which gives me some weight savings but then would be adding some back in for the goose gear...
Yeah my issue isn't the 6k towing its the payload which is why I'm curious what everyone's payload comes out to after their build order options. My trailer's tongue weight is 400lbs and with payload under 1000lbs, that pretty much leaves room for wife & I (300lbs), 2 dogs (140lbs), steel...
take the GCVWR found on the sticker and subtract the weight of your JT/curb weight + passengers + cargo and that's your max towing capacity.
If you add any modifications (larger tires, aftermarket bumper, winch etc.) it's added to your curb weight and reduces your max towing capacity.
Yeah my LJ weighs in at 4460lbs w/ the steel bumpers, winch, rockslider steps, 35” MT tires w/ spare. And thats with the rear bench removed and soft top installed, no hardtop here.
If only I could transplant my 3.5ecoboost into my jeeps! Love it in my f150 and hauling *** up the mountain passes at no more than 2100rpm.
The 4.0 lacks so much power after moving to CO a few yrs back from FL that I had to turbo the thing to even make it bearable to drive to/from work. That...
I have '17 f150 super crew w/ 3.5EB, 10speed, fx4 package, 6" lift, 35" MT tires and average 18.1mpg. Thats at elevation 5400'-12k' and driving 70-75mph. Towing a 3500lb camper, I average 14.3mpg at same elevation.
Not sure what the stock version of my truck would get as I've had the lift &...
