Call GDE. They can set up a clone ecm if desired now. If you need an ecm as well, the cost is $750. You still need to mail in your stock ecm for the cloning process.
Hard to find another diesel engine manufacturer that specs an SN (gasoline) rated engine oil. Most spec a CK (diesel rated). Diesel rated engine oils have additive packages for the higher pressures exerted on the piston, rings and liners.
Seems odd to change oil spec between Gen2 and Gen3...
Not sure about any firmware issue, the tire size data is in the BCM. The issue lies with the road load at 55mph. With the axle change and tires, the loads increase significantly and the vehicle coastdown is different. This is what needs to be certified with EPA pertaining to the emission...
GDE is not tuning vehicles that are heavily modified from factory as we have no means of testing them in our facility. If OEM did not validate an axle ratio, it would cost us a ton of funds to certify with EPA. For low volume, it does not make a good business case. Nothing to do with...
Or you could save a lot of money and frustration and get the Green Diesel Tune. We compared those northern weight loss tunes from up north, funny stuff. The GDE tune on Gen3 is about 1 second quicker 0-60 and gets better fuel economy. Does not make sense to change all those parts to go...
We are not planning to do mail in clone setups. Best to get your local dealer to setup a spare ecm for you and then ship your original stock unit to us for tuning. Thanks GDE
Best to visit your local dealer and ask to check part number on PCM and TCM. GDE cannot tell if yours is updated from a distance. If it is not updated, GDE can update it with WiTech, but it cost extra and Jeep/Ram want their cut.
Mostly a Jeep thing as the Ram already has cold shifting raised from factory, whereas Jeep did not. You will have performance issues and possibly codes if you try to run the engine tune without the trans tune.
No changes planned for the warm-up at this time. The GDE website was having some issues and we took most of this week off for Thanksgiving. We will have it on the website next week sometime.
We had a drive in customer on Monday that had a competitor stage 1 tune on this truck from north of the border. The GDE tune as a comparison has higher hp and torque throughout the operating range and was about 0.7 seconds quicker on 0-60 run. We ran an emission prep cycle on this Canadian...
The GDE can be overwritten by a dealer. GDE wants it updated before tuning, so there is no chance the dealer would inadvertently wipe out the new tune during something benign as an oil change. If a recall comes out, then best to get the new software and update with GDE afterwards for $50.
