Maybe the dealership is going under and they need to save themselves on the last sale. I’ve heard for a while that they don’t make much on vehicle sales, profits are largely made on service and parts.
I wanted to find out what this would cost over here in Canada so I’ve asked. Waiting…..
Do your Service Advisors make a commission on service work? I know mine do in Canada. I don’t know what the %age is but that’ll boost the price a bit and then there’s the other “fees” dealerships add on because it’s fun, feels good to them, the coffee pot has to be full, lights have to stay on...
Ya, lol, you knew where I was going with this. That’s when I’m sure a lot of trade-ins are done. Not for me though. I’m in it for life, which ever one gives up first lol.
I stuck with MOTUL Gear 300 75/90. I don’t have a trailer I pull so my wear metals are trending in the right direction. Diff...
Yup, I took a different route and asked two prominent high performance engine rebuild shops if I could just get my 3.6 rebuilt with better components, boring, honing, balancing. I told them I didn’t need stupid crazy, just better. That was always something we teenagers did back in the 80’s and...
Though I agree completely with doing oil analyses on all your components to see how wear metals are trending, and you’re suggesting 3 tests to know if the oil picked was a good decision, how many miles are you suggesting between tests x’ 3 ?
I know my dealership uses the Pennzoil as well but it’s not the Ultra Premium.
I’d have to go back to the lab and ask what the detergent levels are with the different Pennzoil brands. Perhaps the Ultra Premium has higher detergents. I’m curious.
Last question first, when I saw the glycol in the first report (of two), and all the reports on my engine don’t have it, I assumed it was from the rubber or manufacturing of the hose. I bought it new so there was no “other” uses on it. I took the hose off and sprayed brake cleaner through it...
Good guess but no. About K&N, I’ve religiously used them since my first vehicle when I turned 16 and I learned how to oil them properly. Yes, they can be over oiled and can make a mess of MAF sensors etc and I’ve heard the stories but I’m not one of those stories.
If I was oiling wrong or the...
I’m not sure if you’re one to crack open your diffs to clean them out (gasket is reusable) but would be interesting to see.
If you’ve ever seen the mound of filings and metal goop on your drain plug, the sensor magnet would look the same. The lockers don’t have to be used for the magnet to...
The problem with just switching the harness and bypassing the sensor and magnet is….you still have a magnet sitting under the sensor. The magnet is your friend because it is gathering up all the scratchy iron fillings that like to wear things out and as a magnet collects this destructive debris...
21 JTR, gas, auto, 107k kms (total), second engine (approx 75k kms)
Quick history: at about 32k I got my factory engine replaced on an insurance claim. Tech mistakenly added 6L (holds 5) to an already over filled crank case and 12L of oil was drained out on the first 1567kms oil change and I’ve...
Pull the cover, clean out the diff, pull the locker sensor off the magnet and clean the magnet off. Put it all back together and fill it up. You’re done!
Rubber and silicone tubing are two very different materials. Rubber will crack and dry out. Buy the silicone tubing and install that. See how that lives up to the elements and decide then if you want to seal the gap in with caulking. My silicone tubing stood up to the sun and weather this summer...
