Let me just add my thoughts when it comes to trade-ins. Forget what the dealer is offering for your trade. Instead, look at the out the door price on whatever you are purchasing and use that for comparison. More for this, less for that, tax savings on the trade, etc.
Work off the out the door...
Please don't say that I haven't been paying attention. Perhaps you're viewing my apparent "inattentiveness" as a lack of interest in the topic.
I totally understand and generally agree with the apparent "facts" regarding the cooling issues.
Although not a sales nor marketing expert, I was...
There is a lot of good information here and as @Papa noted, a lot of goofy stuff.
Personally, and many may disagree with me, but if it is true that you do a mile or two towing, I wouldn't think twice about it, if that's all it is. Better to do it off-hours, early mornings or when you are not...
Come on. A 4k-5k towing limit on a V8 powered Gladiator? The folks at Toyota, Nissan, Chev/GMC, Ford and whoever else I am forgetting will be laughing all the way to the motor vehicle agencies to register their sales when people look at the specs, share their heads, and ask themselves "what's...
Please, there is a huge chasm between denigrating a person and questioning (or sometimes having a little fun) with their ideas or beliefs in a certain product or products.
Example: Fact: My 98 year old aunt passed away recently. She drank red wine with the best of them. She would do at least a...
You're correct that you can't "stabilize oil" but perhaps others here are thinking about a product to add additional viscosity to the oil. This is very possible. As you know, manufacturers fractionate the crude petroleum to get dozens of different "fractions" with various viscosities.
I think...
I've repeated this on other threads but I can't vouch for the Wildpeak AT/3s in snow (not here in South Florida), but they have been more than capable in sand and mud here. I think Jeep chose an overall good tire for my JTR (the stock 33") that seems very capable for what many of us ask them to...
14k miles on my '24 Gladiator Rubicon ... still running like new ... everyone has to realize these 3.6 engines are great. What more could I ask for? 14k and not a problem. At this rate, I could see it reaching 25k - 30k.
Who says the 3.6 engines are not great?
Yes, but a friend of my brother-in-law's friends uncle knew of someone who used SuperRally -5W53 and increased his MPG's by 30% and ran it for 500k miles until he sold it to someone who ran it for 200k more and it still doesn't burn a drop of oil.
But like so many others, he knows more than the...
I can't agree more, at least IMO, for what it's worth.
You would know more than me about this, but the service gal who I have worked with since I bought mine (OK, just oil changes and tire rotations under the original service plan thing) almost pleads with me to answer the follow-up email from...
When the time comes to change the ATF fluid in my '24 JTR or even now in my '16 JKU (49k miles on it), after reading all the things, steps, cautions, etc. on the threads here, I wish I could find a reliable company (or mechanic) that could do it for me (I'm in South Florida, Miami/Keys area)...
So I guess in my review of comments here on my original question regarding the 3.7, it is underpowered by todays standards, wouldn't pass the pollution stuff, but overall not a bad engine for its time.
I guess we can say that about a lot of older engines. Since the 3.7 dates back 20? years or...
Yes, I had a 2003 Durango with the 4.7 V8 and kept it for nearly 20 years but put barely 100k miles on it. But in that time I must admit I had zero, and I mean zero issues with engine and just did the 5k oil and filter changes. In fact, I don't think I ever changed the coolant that I can...
I did my requisite searches here before posting but I happened to see a couple of Libertys at the food store today and the 3.7 badge on the rear. We all know about the 3.6 bashing that goes on here but in some searches for the 3.7, I don't see any real issues with it, at least where I was...
Icon here. They can cost more normally than some of the others but it you wait for one of their 30% off or so discounts at HF you can get great wrenches at a good price.
Good point regarding swapping the tires. I did the same with my TJ back in 2000. It was basically stock and it had the highway tires and wheels on it. The night before, I had already bought the wheels and tires I wanted for it (about $700 total back in the day). Then I had the dealer, when I...
My advise would be drive it first, months at least, to determine what you really need for what you do. If you have money that you need to burn, then go on-line, look at all the available options, neat things, toys, and whatever else companies have for sale.
I know one guy who had to have all...
