I don’t currently own a ford. But I too have found the quality of Ford products to be low. Of course, Jeep has never been a leader of quality as well. Lol
I think it is one of the most important vehicles made in the last ten years. The Maverick shows that practicality, efficiency and value can be put together in the same package.
It’s a hole in the oem tune. I did not experience it with my JK, but I have experienced in my 18 JLR and in my 21 JT. It was definitely more noticeable with my 18 JLR since it was a manual.
This is the exact reason why I got my Gladiator. I sold my Ram 1500 for my Mojave. I still needed a truck, but also wanted a wrangler again. I already have multiple vehicles, so it made no sense to add another one to my garage. A good compromise.
I have always found the best combination is a Jeep and a Miata. The new NDs are comfortable, get great gas mileage and one of the most fun cars to drive on the road regardless of price.
Vroom is going to offer you the most. Not sure how well this going to work out for them in the long run. I suspect you won’t get more than what they have offered.
The great thing is we have a choices when we buy our Gladiators. And that is a good thing!
Tell me about your high performance vehicles. On the motorcycle side, I would track race my SV650, zx10r and my CBR1000rr. I would use my modified zx-14r for the strip.
I come from plenty of high rpm motors. I have built and raced cars and motorcycles for years. Have you ever driven a truly high rpm motor? And don’t give me that 7k rpms stuff. Or better yet, on a race track? I don’t see the logic of bringing in high rpm capabilities of a car or motorcycle to...
Counterpoint: All new motors are forced induction. Smaller displacement, small turbos for instant torque and minimal lag. Claimed efficiency (I don’t believe so), but definitely a more useable torque band for a truck.
Gas motors in a truck are a compromise. Trucks are meant to work. That’s why most work trucks have a diesel motor. A gas motor in a truck is strictly for a price point, and also an entry point into a truck becoming the main vehicle of a household. You want power off idle. You have to thrash your...
The 3.6 is a good motor, but not always the best application for specific vehicles. I think it’s capabilities as a motor are pretty stretched when placed in a Gladiator. Trucks aren’t suppose to be revved out to get power. It serves FCA well as a global platform motor.
It will be interesting how this plays out. They can offer n/a versions for base model applications in the charger/challenger applications and turbo/twin turbo setups for higher end performance models. Where it falls for the JL/JT should be interesting as well. It will offer more torque, so will...
I agree it is a very easy manual transmission vehicle to drive. The clutch is light and the throws are easy. It’s mostly the gearing. If you drive in 4th-6th gear between 1.5k and 2.5k rpms, you get a strange pulsing. If you don’t mind thrashing the motor and driving it harder, I could see...
The manual transmission on the JL/JT is a practice of patience and tolerance, in any form. From the strange gearing, to the oem tune. It’s not a great pairing. But to each their own.
