  1. Shrinking fuel tank.....Uwharrie

There is merit to plastic fuel tanks! Yowie!
  2. Loose Weight on Rear Driveshaft

I would be back to the dealer in a flash.
  3. I am 0 for 2 trying to install skid plates

I used the LCA bolt and the top bolt, skipped the front bolt as it is irrelevant to function. If your LCA's don't line up, use your wheel chocks to adjust the position of the arms. Easy peasy.
  4. Outside Naked Overnight

My YJ stays naked May-Nov. I've left the hardtop off for a week at a time with my JTR. Freedom panels for weeks, especially with the JTops on now. Depends on your weather and tolerance for leaf litter, I suppose?
  5. Freedom Off Road Rear Adjustable Track Bar

The Skyjacker is even cheaper: https://smile.amazon.com/Skyjacker-JTGRTBA20-Track-Rear-Adjustable/dp/B07TWT6N9L/
  6. At that Line...

Are you using your truck to tow? The Jeep hybrids aren't the right tool for the job. It's out of the question for me, it's not like the F150 with the V6 turbo. Now my wife is looking at the EV Mini Cooper after I started blabbing on about the 4xe Wranglers........
  7. First tow with my Gladiator Overland.

It's a little cruel to give the other boats at the harbor truck envy!
  8. 35s and No Lift Thread

315/70R17's on OEM wheels, great combination.
  9. Jeep: give us a new power plant!

Oddly enough, my sister and BIL have a 78 Golden Eagle 304 V8. Even has the Levi's seat covers, she had it resprayed over the original chocolate brown, put the decals back on, whole nine yards. Lovely little piece of history - and a weekend only vehicle. She actually drove my YJ to confirm a...
  10. Jeep: give us a new power plant!

We ran down to San Diego on New Year's Day to see grandkids, my wife has a lead foot with the proper motivation. The Grapevine is lots of long pulls uphill, and 80-85 MPH pretty much the whole way. Traffic was MOVING that day, what little of it there was, we were constantly being passed by...
  11. another windshield bites the dust

I talked to my glass folks, little mom & pop shop I've used for 20+ years, they had no idea what I was talking about. I emailed HGP and they said no problem, I received my glass and my shop installed it for ~$120 (something like that). No muss, no fuss, 2 yr warranty intact.
  12. another windshield bites the dust

Had two big chips in the first five months / 7K miles. Eight months after installing HGP's windshield, not a scratch or ding, 12K miles.
  13. Just need some load equalizers and sway control

Top Gear inspires people to do bad, BAD things for the amusement of self and others!
  14. Glass replacement - Mopar vs HGP

The glass company I used to install my Hyperformance windshield wasn't super impressed with the goop around the edges. He obviously could see things I couldn't but he made it work perfectly. Done in November '20 with two large divots in factory glass after 5 months. Here we are in July with...
  15. Harrop 99-ELKR14989 E-locker

Pretty sure this is the same outfit that did the Aussie DOT approved payload upgrade for Gladiators, so they're serious about their product development. If they're selling them in Oz they will be available here as well.
  16. Stock JT Willys Off Road Capabilities Advice

There are good options for skidplates for both frame and axle brackets. They do not impede articulation. https://www.rustysoffroad.com/rustys-rear-lower-control-arm-frame-side-skid-plates-jt-gladiator.html https://www.rockhard4x4.com/product_p/rh-80515.htm
  17. Tires - Gravel Road - Wet Road - Towing….

Gravel from the parking lots at work ceased to be an issue when I got the ACE rock sliders. Cracks me up people complain about rocks thrown, yeah your tires aren't bald!
  18. Rubicon OEM rear bumper steel vs plastic?

I'd agree, the steel bumper and the tail rails go together on the Rubicon. The Mojave gets the short end of the stick on that feature.
  19. A Brit in Qatar

A buddy of mine in Durban swears by all weather street tires on the beach, aired down. The less tread to dig in, the better, in his lights. He's got a Diesel Nissan pickup for launching surf boats, but not too different to desert sand. Muds are the worst choice for sand, for sure!
  20. So disappointed in this Diesel platform; wish there was a return policy.

The oil is going somewhere for the first few thousand miles. Say what you will, tolerances are engineered in, and the wearing in period may not require different behavior in some cases, but it is there regardless. My wife was just teasing last night about manually calculating mileage every fill...
