The suspension may be only part of the cause of your back pain. Seating position may play a larger role than you realize. Perhaps try an active seating pad during a long drive in your JL and see if that helps? As an FYI I’ve had an arthritic lower back since my early 20’s (a by product of being...
Having had KC’s, I just want to echo this post and recommend these. They’ll outperform, outlast (in my experience), and you’ll save a few bucks in the process.
Curious, what exactly made that long road trip uncomfortable? You will still have the added noise and heat/cold associated with having any Jeep due to the fiberglass roof, and any truck (like the F150 you’re comparing against) with IFS will have better road manors. Then there’s the other things...
Great thing with Diode Dynamics lights is you can easily swap out lenses to different patterns and colors. For the 6” bars you have, they’re only $3 each.
New set up:
Ditch lights: Diode Dynamics SS3
Light bar: Diode Dynamics Stage Series 50”
Chase: Diode Dynamics Stage Series 18” in amber
Scene: Diode Dynamics SSC1
I had KC’s but one of my Flex chase lights inexplicably failed, and then the same happened with one of my G34’s ditch lights...
Use some weather seal with the Plano boxes and now they’re fairly dust and water proof. For the price, Plano boxes are really tough to beat. I got a buddy who’s a higher up at Pelican and took care of me with my BX90R; I’d have honestly had a hard time justifying the expense.
I have the BX90R that I use as a “foot locker” on my Rhino Pioneer platform. Really great system with their integrated mounts. I’m surprised they aren’t more popular.
This. The gutters themselves can hold 88lbs, then back out the weight of the entire rack, and that is what you’ll be able to carry. The only way to carry more on the roof is with one of the systems that drills into the roof with an added internal frame.
I’ll take it off your hands if you decide to sell it. I have the 40% and eager to remove the rest, I personally find it that useful and would like to give my dog more space.
I think it might actually work better than the traditional mounting method of above the windshield. Well, better in the sense that you shouldn’t get hood glare as the roof. Also in that camp who thinks lights on a chase looks awesome. Eager to see what you land with.
My ditch lights (on A pillars) are KC G34’s, which are square. These were recommended to me by a buddy who at the time was the Director of Marketing at KC. I’ve recently added a light bar, Diode Dynamics Stage series, which is rectangular and integrates nicely with my Rhino Rack Pioneer platform...
For conditions like snow, I would suggest driving lights on the bumper or on the overrider bar. Lights on the cowl are ideally used as ditch lights, aimed slightly down and over the wheels; when aimed forward as driving lights you will likely end up with glare from the hood making things worse...
