  1. Moving to 35s - what causes the most change - diameter OR weight?

What dcmdon said. That is spot on. Unsprung weight deals more with ride, spring rates, rebounding, etc. With the same size tires, but heavier load range, (ie steel belting / tread, etc) most of the weight is in the face or outermost diameter of the tire. Sure, some is in the sidewall, but not...
  2. What was your favorite Jeep (other than the JT)?

Still have my 2 favorites, which , with the new Gladiator comes to 79 total (removeable top jeeps-not including numerous cherokees and Grands and M715 military rigs) My 66 CJ6 that my son and I frame off restored / modified in 2014 My 88 YJ Cummins diesel that I completed earlier this year.
  3. 35s and No Lift Thread

I dont think the Max Tow package has the air dams-if you are referring to the one that bridges from the bumper to the fender... 35's, no lift, no wheel spacers, stock wheels, Max Tow (as you can tell by the fender lip). It was only that way til my lift arrived, but wife drove it daily and no...
  4. When do you have your doors on/off?

Hit upper 80's here in Missouri this weekend, so... I am almost speechless to hear guys complain about the weight of the doors....apparently they've never had hold of early 80's CJ full doors. And if you can't unplug a plug and plug it back in without bending the pins, or having the ability to...
  5. Gladiator easter eggs found

I think that is standard on all of them. i found a pair of sandals molded into the passenger side cowl cover.
  6. Ideal Tire Pressure for 35" Tires

    32 psi on factory 17 x 7.5 wheels
  7. Tall Fridge and Oven with bed cover on....

So, like the rest of you, I am still spending money... I have purchased a ICECO refrigerator / freezer, and a combination camp oven / double burner stove. Both are too tall, according to my measuring tape, to mount on slides and pull out with the Diamondback cover down. I dont think having to...
  8. Bought used Gladiator last night....2nd used Jeep product with 35 inch ridge grapplers

My Kanati's are the Trail Hawgs in 35-12.50-17 on stock wheels.
  9. Spacer Lift (to level) and Tires/Wheels on Max Tow

If you are only going to tow on rare occasions, don't worry too much about tire size and lift type, within reason. If you are going to tow often, stock form will always perform better. With bigger tires, re-gearing becomes necessary to maintain the torque and MPG values, and it gets quite...
  10. Bought used Gladiator last night....2nd used Jeep product with 35 inch ridge grapplers

I'm running Kanati 35's and for an inexpensive tire, they are pretty darn quiet. Almost no weight added to balance, which surprised tire shop. I run 32 psi on the hwy.
  11. When do you have your doors on/off?

My wife says a jeep is just another car if it doesnt have the top and doors off. We keep at least one jeep naked for rides on nice days. Keep a bikini on another in case it is super hot. Winter / Fall / Early Spring, well, I'm in Missouri so mostly doors and top on then.
  12. Do you even wheel ?

I think "off road" and "wheel" need to be better defined to properly answer this. Kind of like people using the term "fabrication" when they cut a piece of metal and drill a hole in it. I do not wheel in the sense of bouncing, rock climbing, or mudding. I'm not going on Pritchett Canyon with...
  13. Sting Gray build; Jeep #79

Our Diamondback bed cover came in for the Gladiator. Pretty easy install for the wife and I. About an hour with pizza breaks in between.
  14. The impossible tire question

Not a clue as to what that means....
  15. The impossible tire question

By the way, see my signature. We dont do mud. So my input for a "mud" tire will always be useless. I have tractors for mud.
  16. The impossible tire question

I have the Trail Hawgs and so far so good. Only been on for 2 weeks but my wife daily drives the JT and she has not complained of tire noise. We are running about 32 psi for what its worth and the ride is good as well. These are a 10 ply tire, so great for us as we live on a gravel road where...
  17. Sting Gray build; Jeep #79

Its really close, but a shade or two lighter. Painted it before we got the Gladiator. Its a dark Ford Grey from Orscheln-just single stage.

  19. Sting Gray build; Jeep #79

My first Jeep was a 1981 that I got in 1984. CJ7. A few vehicles later I had a 81 Scrambler. Got married in 1990 and bought my first Willys for $750. Since then, I've bought, fixed up or corrected, and sold many different jeeps. I typically buy them with a problem, most notably steering and...
  20. Sting Gray build; Jeep #79

I recently purchased the pto generator thinking my diesel tractor would run more efficiently than my gas generator, and, the pto is a 15kw vs my gas at 8.5kw. I'm getting ready to install some different and one new receptacles on it, one for my welder so I can run it anywhere on the farm. Got...
