They were $24.00 here... Typical West Coast price hikes.... Still a pretty good deal I guess, but I did have to listen to the Parts Genius behind the counter tell me how the EuroSpec doesn't mean anything and that all oils are the same.
Thanks for the info @RudeJeepin ! Although I am not as experienced of a diesel owner as you, I get what your saying about letting off the throttle and I always get my speed up before a hill, years of towing trailers behind small SUV's :)
By far the worst I have experienced was is Idaho where...
Been a while since I have been on the board... Been focused on rebuilding my CJ. I was hoping to find that some of you super smart gearheads figured out a solution ;). I caught a post from another user on the forum saying that there is NO WAY a modern vehicle would overheat.... LOLOL I guess...
Funny I derated multiple times on my way to Utah and back. When you say you were running 85 mph, is that on flat ground? Because in my JTRD as soon as the elevation goes up, so does the temps.
@Rusty PW Remind me, have you changed your gearing or something? I have moved the horns and installed...
Hope you have a better time than I did... Was a major nightmare on par with the bottoming out issues!
The dealership finally got the part after some major runaround... they couldnt find the part, so they just stopped looking for a couple months. After I escalated they finally tracked it down...
You won't have any problems wheeling. I was doing Moab in June last year in 95-100 degrees and it never even got warm. Speed is what seems to generate the heat. 70+MPH on the freeway keeps my oil temp at 212-218... slight hill brings me above 220... Long climb runs up to about 238 and then I...
I agree that there is alot of "marketing" and that most of the responsibility falls to the buyer. But I will say that I personally have never experienced a derate while towing... Only driving down the road, with my family and gear for a trip in the bed of the truck. The first big trip were...
Any possible repercussions from filing a complaint, like having your warranty status discontinued?
Just curious, only my second new vehicle ever, and never seen an issue like this before.
That is all done :) it does help, you are right... I also relocated my horns, this sucker just runs HOT... I did have my hood vents open with the sun was out, but kept them closed for the rainy parts :). Good tips though, glad you pointed it out for other members!
Just got back from 3K mile trip to Bryce, Zion, Vegas. Altitude certainly puts stress on the system... If you are going 40-50mph, no problem, but the speed limit in Idaho is 80mph. Utah is 75-80mph too, and there is a lot of hills!
My Father-In-Law Derated TWO times in his JLDR, but only almost...
Hey I said that before too!
FCA has a recall reimbursement program for people who fix issues, out of pocket, before a recall is issued. But I guess this is not a recall... I think it is worth trying anyway... Would be nice to get at least the amount of the replacment parts and the 2-3...
I don't know how they could make that Jounce much smaller, but oh well, I am not an engineer. Not sure how shocks are going to make that >2 inch gap wider... Maybe they are putting some Monroe Air Struts up front :CWL:
Based on a new post over in the other bottoming out thread, it was mentioned that they are waiting for legal to approve the communication or the fix or something... that seems not good to me, then again maybe they are going to make everyone sign a settlement agreement and cut us a check.
Thanks I really like the Black Horse Design look! I couldn't be sure it would work with my bed cover... The cover I got is quickly removable, and folds to the front, so I needed to make sure I would not lose that functionality!
Make sure you get Diesel Fender Liners, they are not the same as Gas. The Diesel has a great big Windshield washer tank behind there on the drivers side... My Dad just got done changing over to a small washer tank on his JL to get the Gasser Liners to work... it is a process and requires some...
