I would not go so far.
The transmission for the gas engines is build under ZF license in the US which is not better or worse than the transmissions for the diesel engines manufactured in Germany.
In my opinion both transmissions are a great piece of engineering art (but still might have some...
I was somehow (not completely) aware of the issues the EcoDiesel has.
And I am definitely not a diesel fan.
But looking at the characteristics of the Pentastar (neglectable torque, max. power at arround 6000 rpm) it was quite clear that this engine is not really fitting to the Gladiators...
I loved my Chevy and if I would have had more garage space would definetly kept her.
And my favourite combination would be to put the LS6 in the Gladiator.
Apart from Scotty, I fully agree with you.
Even if the ESS on the Diesel Gladiator worked very well during the test drive, I am putting it off everytime I use my own vehicle.
And even on my Smart 451, which is mainly used in the city, the first thing to do is to switch ESS off.
OK, fuel...

Mine is a 1980 450 SLC and was reimported from the US to Germany in 2018.
Was more or less rust free, just needed a paint job.

And the next modification on the truck is buying JScan and shutting off ESS permanently.
We have a 13 PIN socket / plug here in Germany (maybe also in Europe) and I bought a plug which I connected to the CTEC cable which usually would have been connected directly to the battery.
So, in principle I made my own connection to the CTEC.
I used Pin 9 for plus and 13 for earth which I...
My Gladiator has the LSD in the rear and since I am not using the car seriously off road I think that would be sufficient.
My lately acquired TJ has non and I am planning to install a locker at the rear.
And if this is not fullfilling my requirements the front will follow.
