  1. M/T Gearing

I was somewhat disappointed I couldn't get a 4.1 gearing on the Manual Sport. My Tacoma has 4.3 rear end, so I thought from a crawl/low end stand point, I'd be worse off. But seems like that's not the case. I'm hoping I did the calculations correct. And thank you Jeep for a proper 4.49...
  2. Manual is the life for me, (drove JL's)

It's weird they didn't put a dead pedal on the JL's nor the JT's. I've seen some aftermarket options, but seems cumbersome to install.
  3. Bed Liner

I had a dealer add a liner when I bought an F150 a few years ago. Mistake. They just covered all the bolts with the liner crap. Not that I would take off the bed any time soon, but I would have opted to have it done at the factory instead. Or take it to a Linex shop myself. For my Gladiator...
  4. Working trucks

I will be using mine for play and work (just like my current truck). Hauling camping gear, bicycles, motorcycles, fishing stuff, etc. with the family. Then lumber, mulch, fertilizer, etc. for house work. For me, the Gladiator strikes almost a perfect balance between a work and lifestyle...
  5. Any manual Gladiators arriving at the dealers?

Anyone order a base Sport in manual? I heard from a dealer that the base + manual combo cannot be ordered at this time. Although I built it up on the Jeep site with that combo.
  6. Soft top summer; hard top winter

I can see both sides. If I were hauling cargo, most likely, I'd have the top up anyway, so it wouldn't really matter. But heading out on a camping trip with the family and bed full of gear, it would be nice to be able to put the top down. But 100% agreed, the OEM top folded looks really awkward.
  7. Soft top summer; hard top winter

That would be fantastic. The way OEM should've come.
  8. Soft top summer; hard top winter

Thanks for the replies. I am getting the Sport, so there is no Dual Top option. So I will go ahead and get the hard top so it'll have all the connections installed, then get the soft top afterwards.
  9. Soft top summer; hard top winter

I was planning to run a hard top year round but got thinking maybe I’ll run soft during summer and hardtop in winter. I’ve never had a Wrangler so I don’t know how much of a pain this will be and if I’ll just end up leaving the hardtop on. I do have space to store the hardtop so that’s not an...
  10. Any manual Gladiators arriving at the dealers?

Jeep dealers (or any auto dealers) will stock what sells. Manuals just don't sell well. Most people want autos. For Tacoma's, I think I heard it was something like 9% of the sales were manuals. I am looking to get a manual as well. From what I'm hearing, it's easier to get the Sport S and...
  11. Max Tow Gas Milage difference on Sport

I’d say on an average, 1-2mpg. Towing, that gap is about non-existent.
  12. Diesel vs gas

I saw a recent Way@life vid where they regeared to 5.13 and said it was close to stock feel. Diesel definitely has that torque, though, that no gas engine can match. If you value that, there is probably no alternative, unless Jeep comes out with a fantastic turbo gas engine like Ford F150. I...
  13. Diesel vs gas

But you could achieve the same with regear, for a whole lot less $ (diesel premium). Moot point for me, though. They don't offer the diesel with manual.
  14. Manual Trans with 4.10's?

I believe you get the wide Dana 44's with the Rubicon. So if he gets the Rubicon with manual, I think the only difference is the GCWR.
  15. TODO: Request Better MT Towing Capacity From Jeep

I would never tow anything close to 5k lbs with my Tacoma. Midsize just aren’t made to comfortably tow that much.
  16. Dual-Action Tailgate on Gladiator?

I never saw the point of the dual action tailgates. Another point of failure. Don't need or want it. Seriously, a foot and a half more reach? Pretty insignificant, if you ask me. I also heard the weight capacity is lower on those? No thanks!
  17. Manual Trans....what am I missing?

Seems to me more age related than anything else (no offense intended). I see the same with others around your age. I’m 15 yrs younger but can’t see myself without a manual truck or car even in 20 yrs. That is, if they are still available. No auto can replicate that for me, in my opinion. I’ve...
  18. Love the Gladiator but just too Expensive

Hm, not sure where you are but in my area, you're saving what, $1-2k? Not worth it for me. With vehicles that hold their value so well, it makes no sense buying used.
  19. Overlanding Build Questions/Payload Capacity

Remember the GVWR is set by the manufacturer. Not by a government agency. Yes, all those vehicles you see are most likely way over payload. Some run into issues, some don’t. I personally want to keep it within factory payload no matter what you change, suspension wise. (Also remember it’s not...
  20. Love the Gladiator but just too Expensive

Why is this a surprise? Look at the Tacoma TRD Pro. Look at the Colorado Bison. Or any other upper trim midsize trucks. I don’t think the price is out of line. That said, I do wish it were cheaper! If I could get my base trim with hardly any options at $30k, I’d be happy. But I’m looking at...
