My door states 5,124. Scales leaving the dump typically have me at 5,5-600lbs. But weight and bouancy are quite different things. The cabin volume and sealing are probably more material whether you float.
Whatever you do to mitigate it, water is still hard on many components. I guess my point...
At 35k my stock fox shocks were worn to mush (chalk that up to lots of towing, hauling and Offroad work). Given the opportunity I installed the Clayton Ride Right 2.5 lift with the HD triple rate spring option because we are often loaded with several hundred pounds of payload in one way or...
While there is no escaping the pain tariffs will bring to the market, Jeep just earned a point in its favor by not being directly subject to import tariffs. INEOS just announced big price hikes as a consequence.
Anyway you look at it our vehicles are multinational, but at least we’re not...
A multipurpose trailer plug pigtail is a really handy tool to keep on board. Lots of applications. I use it to occasionally run a 12v transfer pump too.
Dimensions are one thing, it’s the secondary effects of dimension that discriminate the two. Take visibility, in the JT my forward blind spot is among the shortest in the segment. Likewise I can see my driver side sidewalls from the driver’s seat. Those two factors compounded by turning...
I could see myself not switching them off and opening the door while in a reduced clearance situation and damaging them. Hopefully they have a limit function.
You could check continuity with a multi meter to verify. The 7 pin plug wiring is standardized.
I used a trailer plug to build a plug in auxiliary backup light that’s worked great for a couple of years now.
For those interested, I just installed the 2.5” ride right last week with the Falcon 2.2 and triple rate HD rear springs. MASSIVE improvement over stock.
Granted my stock shocks were so worn I could compress them by hand (after 38k miles). The HD triple rate springs are a game changer. We...
I’ve had one on for about a year and it’s held up fine. The most weight I’ve had on it is our 170# RTT.
I see corrosion at the angle and it looks to me like flexing may have caused the powder coat to fail leaving an opening for corrosion cracking. I’ve seen a few spots of rust on mine after...
Small cube spot mounted under the truck and wired to illuminate with reverse lamps. It’s dark and rainy here half the year, add road grime and the stock reverse lamps don’t cut through. The spot lamp gives me a pool of light that greatly improves the safety of reversing in inclement...
Yes, this! They could find enough room in that face to supply adequate cooling. Alternatively, if adopted the EU trailering speed limits tow capacity would likewise increase a meaningful amount for free.
You know the reason AT’s don’t clunk into every gear is that they are programmed to slip for smoothness. A rough shift isn’t necessarily the sign of a problem. In all likelihood the combination of drivetrain lash and cold lubricants make audible what normally wouldn’t.
This ^ never jack under a pivot. It's kind of an easy mistake to make if you're used to an independent suspension vehicle, the axle tube is much lower to the ground anyway.
Keep in mind that 4.10 is quite low to start, Tacomas are 3.58 (AT). I've never felt a lack of torque towing that made me wish for deeper gears.
Our auto has a really nice spread, with 1st being quite low too, most of the effect of towing is the truck holding gears longer.
Now off-road...
How many miles?
I ask because while it’s a slightly different beast, my 22’ Rubi needs new shocks at 36k miles. They’re getting bouncy and ride is declining. I’m not particularly disappointed since we haul, tow and drive off-road every week.
I’ve got a set of Falcon adjustable shocks and...
Our pentastar has an excellent torque curve. 80% peak torque is available from a low RPM and stays there for a long while.
It’s not going to compare to a diesel but it’s not too shabby either.
ANY enthusiast forum will have pages of issues, it’s sort of the point in crowd sourcing information. Consider that in various permutations there have been 10M+ 3.6 v6 built since the early 10’s. A decade of production coupled with huge volume mean that nearly every issue is known. Contrast...
We're only 18.5 acres but we a decent size orchard and are expanding. The original owners left a lot of old cedar split rail fence and big 6'+ DBH trees that make navigation difficult.
The jeep has great visibility, I know exactly where my wheels are. With the axle width greater than...
