Things that haven't held up:
The hinge I got was "waterproof" but it's rusted to hell. I have an aluminum one to go in. Just need to swap it out.
I originally used gas struts to hold the door open. They failed quick in the elements and were really hard on the foam.
The main flat top area...
This is about 6 months in and still going strong. Plus my pull out drawers.
Feel free to ask any questions if you have them! It was a good learning experience and I would impart a lot of knowledge to a future builder of one I wish I had.
I also have a build video if you're interested.
I realized it may be helpful to others so I'll post here! I posted about it in my build thread. This is my DIY camper shell. The shell itself is around $250 and weighs so little one person can pick it up and take it off. The outer metal shell is heavier but still manageable by one person...
I saw one on a Tacoma I think. It caught my attention. It did not look as polished as the aluminum or composite campers. But it isn't a crazy price so if it works it works.
Sport S max tow setup here! I did a 2 inch frankenlift and so far it's been great! I'll link my post about it below but the short is:
I did a 2 inch spacer lift from iron rock off-road in the rear to keep the max tow springs and 2 inch(rated for with a winch) springs for the front. Bilstein...
Finally, my update! It's held up really well. We're approaching a full year at this point, 4 more months than this video and the top has survived a blizzard, desert heat, California sun and torrents of rain. It's still going strong! I also add chase lights in the back and they REALLY make it...
Heres a photo of it. I don't really have good in progress photos.
The general idea is the UHMW plastic slides on the truck bed. And it does really well.
Since there's nothing truly holding it down you just have to make sure to put the heavy stuff at the back. Like I do with my big battery bank.
I realized I never posted my updates here!
I like that decked system idea for drawers but I use my truck as a truck too often. So I made these. They use UHMW plastic to be drawer slides so I don't have to drill anything in!
Morning/afternoon yall!
I decided to try my hand at a long form adventure video again. My last one being lost coast.
Mojave road is really cool and, in general, very easy. There were a few unavoidable hard spots but the only really hard part was avoidable.
This ended up being a good test...
Got the Anvil Overland bar in.
Then got to modeling and 3d printing a mount for my auxbeam panel.
Also modeled a mount for my weboost antenna. I'll post a link up to the models when I upload them
Now the actual fun project I have been working on! I previously made my truck bed cover work with the jcr off-road adventure rack. Buuut. I went with the flush hard trifold cover and it just barely catches on the cooler and other items in the bed.
So I have decided to build a foam based hard...
Installed an auxbeam fuse box/panel today. The panel isn't mounted yet since I don't really want to drill a hole in my dash. So I'll figure it out eventually.
I'm not sure if this is common, but my truck doesn't have the big plastic V6 cover I see on a lot of jeeps. But that meant I had a big...
Seriously. I did my first oil change after the free ones over the week and must say, I'm never pleased when I have to break out the mallet to get the drain plug loose
Not sure what you mean by don't include parts to current geometry. They do. There are front longer control arms. You can instead go for the AEV correction bracket if that's more your style.
If you mean longer front track bar. I did a 2" lift and don't need the track bar. Ymmv but it's visually...
