Took the Gladiator for another drive in the snow last night, did about 300 miles up into northern NH during a snowstorm. The only thing I did differently was throw an old tire an rim from my F-550 into the bed of the Jeep; the tire and rim weigh about 125 lbs or so. I did not lower air...
I'm pretty sure the LT2's could not be studded by a tire shop - they had to be done at the factory? Anyway, mine were ordered direct. I lost so many studs the first year, the shop gave me a brand new set. Of course, the same thing happened the next year. He tried to tell me the "torque" of my...
I've run the Hakka LT2's on my pickups. They were 10-ply and studded. Nokian advertises how their studs are more friendly to roads as they have a cushion of sorts. However, in my experience, the tires lost a lot of their studs in fairly short order. Also in my experience, the studless Blizzaks...
Sure, no argument from me. However, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the Gladiator seems to perform worse in snow compared to the other pickups I've driven. In my initial post, I did compare it to an SUV because that's what I immediately had available to compare to on my test drive...
Sometimes what you're trying to say doesn't come across well when typed into a forum. I'm not trying to be hostile or a know it all. I'm not the best driver in the world. I simply have driven a lot of pickups and being perfectly honest, I'd say this Jeep goes the worst of all of them in snow. I...
To your first point, I've driven pickups for quite a a few years now, since I decided to start my own landscaping and plowing side business. I don't have all of these trucks anymore, but here's a list:
2005 F-350 dually, 2012 F-250, 2015 F-350, 2016 F-350, 2016 F-250, 2017 F-350 dually, 2017...
Keep in mind my concern was driving on snow covered roads. Your pictures show a Gladiator with mud-terrain tires in deep snow. M/T's work well in deep snow but not well on packed snow covered roads. Nice rig, by the way.
The "auto" system can only vary the amount of power sent to either the front or rear axle. It has no ability to vary the amount of power to wheels across an axle; that function would be controlled by the electronic traction control system, which all Gladiators have. Traction control works on the...
Wow, thank you for clearing up my "confusion." Your condescending know-it-all tone is really great! I think if you read my posts fully, you'd understand I know plenty about driving in snow, driving different types of vehicles, driving with different types of tires, and driving off-road. The...
We did - I live in Western NH, near the CT River, just south of the "Upper Valley" area. Lower elevations got a little less. This is actually the third time it has snowed this year. First storm was about 2" and went away by the next day. Second storm was a dusting. This one has already melted by...
Interesting responses. I'm very familiar with the 4x4 system in the Jeep, the Rover, and many other rigs out there (I said I was an experienced off-road enthusiast). The road was snow-covered with probably 3-4 inches of snow with maybe one set of tire tracks. No, I was not in 4-low. I can't...
I have a 2022 Gladiator I bought as a new leftover at the beginning of this year. We got 6-8" snow last night and I decided to see how it performed as I live near a windy, hilly road that climbs about 1,000 feet over the course of a mile and a half or so. My Gladiator is an Overland and...
My 2022 came with an engine cover and I think it looks really nice...
Oops....my other 2022. My 2022 Gladiator has no engine cover, nor would it as Papa has pointed out a few times. I actually think the Pentastar without a cover, neatly tucked into the Wrangler / Gladiator engine bay, looks...
Kilmer is a moron. I cannot for the life of me understand why so many people eagerly watch his channel. He's awful to listen to, awful to look at, flails around, and spews a lot of nonsense both about how great Toyotas are and how bad everything else is.
VM has made engines for many automobile companies, including Land Rover (many years ago) and more recently, the Chevy Colorado with the 2.8L "Duramax." I would say their more recent designs are pretty decent engines.
Just a couple of corrections:
The 6.2L Supercharged Hemi's do not run the...
I've done Katzkin leather on a Ford Super Duty and a RAM 3500 truck. In both cases they were crew cab trucks, I ordered basic black OEM-style leather, bought the kits off eBay, and paid between $500-600.
What others say is true:
-The Katzkin leather and padding is a little better than factory...
My 2022 only has about 5,500 miles on it. A thousand of those are towing a 20 foot long, 102" wide box trailer weighing in between 5-6k lbs. The Jeep has had no issues except a creaking from the sun visor. But it shouldn't with so few miles.
It is a known, common issue. That doesn't mean it affects every one of them. There are Pentastars with well over 200k on them on original cams.
I find it bizarre how quite a few of these engines have rocker / cam failure, while others never do. While extended OCI's are never good, sometimes...
One thing I noticed on my 2022 Overland with the Jeep kit is that the ratchet has quite a small head on it. You can easily mar the head using a typical size ratchet; the rubber handle adds protection if it slips and you slam the tool into the door. I suppose my 1/4" drive snap-on would be nicer...
I have a 2022 and my experience was that you needed a lot of force to go from 2H to 4H. While stopped in neutral, not much effort was needed to get into low range, just make sure you move the lever slightly to the right as you pull back so as to follow the dog-leg pattern. Going from low back to...
