285/70/17 KO2s. In so many words you stated that to get advertised MPG you have to be completely stock and drive like a grandma, below 65. My experience and many others I have read don’t agree with your observation. If you want/need heavy 38s or other significant weight or aero detrimental mods...
Disagree on the speed component, specifically having to drive below 65 to get in the high 20s on the interstate, in my normal interstate driving I go between 70-75 around 80% of the time, when not passing or slowing for traffic. My mix of highway to city miles is about 70/30 and below is my last...
Mods should make this thread or the one at link below stay at the top of the diesel forum. Easily avoidable problem if people know to check for it.

Been consistently in the 80s and some 90s the past week and a half, typically I’ve seen low 220s on oil temps. The pic below was today at 88 degrees ambient after driving on the interstate for about an hour. Was fluctuating between 217 to 220 oil temp but the wind was fairly mellow, so the...
Got mine already, exactly as described. Now where to get a deal on some oil and fuel filters? Don’t want to go super cheap but don’t want to pay $100 a filter either.
If your question is for me, it would be used for changing the oil in my EcoD JT. If they ship the wrong thing, I’ll drive 5 min down the road and return it. In this day and age of supply chain shortages, personally stocking a few key routine maintenance items is prudent, especially at a great price!
What I quoted applies only to ambient temps in the 70s which is what it’s been on average where/when I’ve been driving recently. We rarely see temps at or above 100 degrees in the Chicago area, not even in July/Aug, so I can’t really comment on that. I didn’t have the car scanner app setup last...
My operating temps with ambient temps in the 70s on my primarily highway commute are pretty similar with what you shared at my typical 70 to 75 mph cruising speed. Normally I’m right around 215 oil temp +/- fluctuating between 30 to 50% torque demand depending on hills and accelerating to pass.
I guess that’s the definition of YMMV. On reasonably flat terrain (hills not mountains), without crazy wind (not getting pushed all over the road), and speeds 75mph or below (above 75 the brick aerodynamic penalty multiplies) I chug along at 26-28 mpg all day. Anecdotally I have seen more people...
I hand calculate as well and routinely get 450 miles per tank, so my experience with fuel economy is pretty much as advertised on a mostly stock Sport S with 285/70 BFG KO2s. Only when wind is extreme do I dip significantly down below 25mpg on the highway. If you briefly drove in stock...
Had it installed for around one year, no regrets other than not being able to purchase as a factory option to save the diy time and effort. The price is definitely high vs all weather mats / liners but IMO for coverage, insulation value, and industrial look/feel there isn’t a better alternative...
I have never experienced, or at least I’ve never noticed, a derate so I don’t know first hand the symptoms of a “normal” derate. What I can say is that I’ve towed multiple times and seen oil temps up to the mid 240s without issue, so based on that and descriptions of other people here...
Wow, should have started with these pics. No wonder they are suggesting to epoxy a nut on there, will probably be stronger afterwards. Might as well epoxy on some metal support brackets as well while you’re at it. Maybe it’s part and parcel to the slim fit, but long term durability seems...
Never experienced a derate event in 11k miles of ownership, neither normal driving nor towing (up to 5k lbs). I also haven’t pushed things to the extreme in 100+ degree temps or serious grades but have seen oil temps in the mid 240s when towing. In addition, while towing I mostly shift manually...
You should try a Pedal Commander, EVC, etc. throttle controller. IMO the oem throttle programming gives the allusion of turbo lag being much worse than it actually is, you can fix 80% of the problem with a plug and play throttle controller.
