  1. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

I believe federal law is brakes are required over 3k GVWR *OR* if the trailer GVWR exceeds 40% of the tow vehicle's. So technically, if you are towing with a small SUV or car, you might need brakes at an even lower trailer weight. Heck, I think our old 2dr JK had a GVWR of like 4800lbs, so a...
  2. Wrong power steering fluid top off

Whatever fluid he used must say it meets MS-11655 specifications. There are a handful of non-mopar brands that do, but they certainly are not "regular power steering fluid". These are the ones I know of:
  3. Wrong power steering fluid top off

Well, she said "regular power steering fluid". To me that means probably old style mineral oil based stuff, or ATF based, neither of which is compatible with the synthetic stuff used in our electric pumps.

If the boat+trailer = 6000lbs, then he needs 600-900lbs on the tongue. 6000lbs with 600lbs tongue would max out a 2023 Gladiator with factory 285/70s, 4:10s, and the appropriate suspension, you need to really dial in that tongue weight if you at least wanna be "safe but still illegal".
  5. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

Yeah, as you and I have both said numerous times, there is nothing you can do to change the legal towing capacity. You probably remember all the questions and discussion when I first started considering moving from the Max Tow to a Rubicon, so you know I personally go by the book on these...
  6. Carnivore Side Steps (Running Boards)

Two month update. NOT HAPPY. So we got snow last night (Snow in February, in the White Mountains of NH? Shocking! LOL), and as I was cleaning off the Gladiator, I noticed the passenger side running board was loose. Odd, but probably just need to retighten a few bolts or something. Finished doing...
  7. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

The first thing to do is flip that jack up, lol! (I'm guessing this was just a photo op and you don't really trailer like that) Get the computer reprogrammed for the bigger tires and a set of airbags for the rear... assuming the trailer is REALLY set up right for the proper tongue weight...
  8. Wrong power steering fluid top off

Uhg. Assuming it's already been run, I would probably flush the system asap. The two fluids are not compatible. Hopefully he didn't also top off your coolant with "regular" antifreeze too?
  9. Seat belt chime delete

That's always a possibility, although as a neighbor and I were discussing yesterday (as I was "staining" the deck of my car trailer with used motor oil thinned with diesel), we're so rural here things in Washington DC or even Concord, NH will have very little impact on our lives. And right now...
  10. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

Yea, but now you don't have to get dirty, and you don't have to change out speedo gears every time you make a change. And for the most part, you can even tweak the setting to account for variances in tire brand and air pressure. No longer are you stuck picking the green gear, the pink gear or...
  11. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

So, I'm guessing you did NOT have the computer reprogrammed? That might make all the difference in the word, since you have effectively changed the overall gearing, but without telling the computer, which factors all that into how it tells your transmission to shift. Your dealer may or may not...
  12. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

I am still slightly surprised that the '25 Rubicon gets noticeably worse mpg than the '21 max tow with the same trans, gears, and tires (and computer adjusted for the tire change), but the Rubi does seem to wind the gears more. Which brings up another point now that you mention going to...
  13. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

I had no issues still towing 6000lbs after I went to 285/70s on my 4.10 Sport S max tow with a/t. Yes, the max tow has the slightly wider axles, but again I do not thing it would make a difference for you in a few miles of local driving.
  14. Seat belt chime delete

Reason #87,241 I moved to New Hampshire. 😁 I wear a seatbelt because I choose to, not because the government tells me to. Live Free Or Die isn't just our state motto, it's a way of life!
  15. '23 Gladiator Sport S Towing

I would agree with most of the above, if the OP hadn't said he usually only tows 1 single mile each way, and a max of 10 miles round trip. So not far, probably pretty minor terrain given their location, and probably not highway speeds. One thing not mentioned is tire size. If they are on...
  16. New hoods showing up on Rubicons

Brief chat with our saleman today. He sent a msg letting me know the Wrangler was in production. You would think that by now he would know that *I* already knew that, lol. Anyway, asked about the hood, he basically said he didn't know what the story is, other than when he placed the order it was...
  17. Seat belt chime delete

I didnt click it so i didnt notice. Damn, he paid a dollar less too :P
  18. Seat belt chime delete

I have the Tazer, so no need to fool it on the Jeeps, but my UTV limits you to like 10mph without the seatbelt. That's really annoying just around the property, so I grabbed this. It's meant to be used to leash your dog to the seatbelt, but for my use I used the leash part to attach it near near...
  19. New hoods showing up on Rubicons

So I just went into her office and showed her the pics. "Whatever. I don't care. It's purple. It looks flat".
  20. New hoods showing up on Rubicons

If it was MY Jeep and it was a Rubicon, I would really be pissed if it got a hood like the one @Xplor posted above. So far the misses seems nonplussed, but I havent shown her the picture above yet.
