OMG, I know exactly how you feel today.
The wife's new Wrangler was originally supposed to arrive at the dealer on April 4th. Then last week it bumped up to March 12. Then it showed up at the dealer earlier this week, and we arranged to pick it up this afternoon. This morning, she gets an email...
Did you know the original owner? It's possible he removed some stuff before selling. Not gonna lie, I may have dropped a nut or washer in some inaccessible place while doing that before trading in. (Maybe even a few days ago....shhh!)
If I remember right, you bought it used, right? Wonder if there is some aftermarket accessory that used that somewhere along the frame and was removed before you bought it.
Maybe even a backing plate for a bumper or light bar mount that migrated to the lowest part of the frame.
And after a week and a half, they have finally figured out the part that failed is specially made for the running boards.
In China.
Not sold separately.
The offered to send me entire new running boards... when they come in, because they are currently out of stock.
Or a refund. I took the...
Order tracker says it hasn't shipped yet. Dealer called yesterday to say it was just delivered to them, they just need a day or 2 for the prep. Spent all afternoon removing stuff on the outside. Today I'll work on interior. And of course, I just filled the gas tank for her, and when I was...
The Saga Continues
So got the hardware pack yesterday. Included all the hardware EXCEPT the hardware that broke. :(
And that's after I sent them the pics above, including the parts sheet with the part that failed circled.
This morning I got a response back (I did not really expect a response over the weekend so did not even contact them until yesterday/Sunday). They are supposedly sending out a new hardware pack asap. Still not confident it wont happen again, but maybe it was just a bad batch, since nobody else...
At least with the Rubicon you guys are getting a "performance hood". :CWL:
What possible benefit is the mandatory optional non-vented, non-performance steel hood on the Sport S?
As someone who has done a LOT of towing, including some really small things behind really big trucks, the extended hitch will certainly benefit you ON THE ROAD, especially backing it up. Off-road, I guess it's going to depend on the actual terrain. "High clearance vehicle recommended" could...
If you do not off-road, or the most you are going to do are fire/logging roads, go with the WeatherTech. They are a custom fit and they look like it. No drilling, but they do not come off if you want the added clearance off-road.
If you need them to work when you want them too, and come off...
Oh, and it's hard to argue it's about safely and not about the money when we had to get BRAND NEW CARS inspected. Are there really that many brand new cars sitting on the dealer lot with bad brakes and bald tires?
I think only 12-14 states still have safety inspection. Study after study shows mandatory safety inspections make no real world difference in vehicle safety. That's because mechanical failures of any kind only account for a tiny percentage of accidents, and the annual inspection is just one...
