  1. Aux switch questions.

If you have a professional mechanic friend who has access to buy direct from the local manufacturers' parts distribution warehouse, then you should be able to save about 20%. At least that's what a friend of mine saves me on OEM parts--he makes no profit off that. As for what I have hooked...
  2. Check engine light

I hope you get this worked out. The Gladiator is a great vehicle when it all comes together.
  3. Is it easy to steal a Jeep?

And a quite high percentage of those aren't the youth of the country. I'd be surprised if more than one in fifty youth can drive a stick. My daughter thanked me for teaching her to drive a stick--it's even what she tested for her DL exam in. Once at Oklahoma University, other students would...
  4. Is it easy to steal a Jeep?

A stick won't stop everyone (and I'm truly not worried about stopping you). From a 2018 analysis of FBI data on car theft: Young males were responsible for 86% of vehicle thefts. Of those arrested for auto theft, 59% were under 21 years of age, with 42% of those being under 18 years old...
  5. Is it easy to steal a Jeep?

Doesn't work for tow-away, but effective against carjacking, too. EDIT: FYI, on my Trans Am I installed an electric fuel pump (which your JT has already, of course) that is powered through a relay wired for latching (stays on once power is applied, drops off when power is lost). The...
  6. Where did you WHEEL your Gladiator today?

Close enough. Mostly just trying to offer a place to see Gladiators used for my traditional Jeep duty, not hauling plywood home from the local big box store. That's a cool looking tunnel, BTW.
  7. Check engine light

I see you work in tech support. I'm sure you know that the more, and more accurate, info a customer can provide you on a problem, the easier it is to help them resolve it. It isn't any different for a vehicle. Plus, when the service manager sees that you're armed with info, the less likely...
  8. Right of passage for new Jeep owner?

You're granted Gold Membership when your replacement windshield lasts ten days or less ... You can catch the video of this here (not as it happened; 1:45 if not forwarded) ...
  9. Current Dash Configuration

Being shorter, I have that problem with the start button, which is hidden by the steering wheel. I keep trying to start by pressing the volume control, LOL.
  10. Where did you WHEEL your Gladiator today?

I did not realize that is a Jeep Badge of Honor Trail. We had to do a little tugging and winching to make it, but well worth the trip. It is a beautiful view from up there!
  11. Just Two Jeep Pick-ups Parked

Met my friend from Arizona as we were preparing to run El Camino del Diablo ... Here's teaser video of the trip, if Interested ...
  12. Test Drove Gobi Mojave

If they changed the tires, what else did the dealer add? If a lift, that could be why it wanders. Cheap lifts look "bad ass", and contribute to a variety of problems on those vehicles. One being wandering steering. BTW, if you decide that you want Gobi, it isn't being made anymore.
  13. Check engine light

Before taking it to the dealer, you should be able to get that code read at most auto parts stores. Find out the code, then do a bit of research on what it is and what the fixes could be. Then you can talk to the service manager from a point of knowledge. Knowing what the exact issue is, you...
  14. Can you order a soft top?

Best deal may be to keep an eye out on Jeep forums and local sales forums (do they have craigslist up there in Canada?) to find someone who bought a Gladiator with dual tops but doesn't want the soft top. Usually can get those for roughly half price. For example, years ago I paid $500 for the...
  15. Jeep Gladiators Burn to Death During Battery Jump

They just keep changing the batteries? Surely something else must be amiss. Did they also fix that? If not, please tell me you're not using the River Oaks dealership. My daughter lives at the apartments next to there and that's where I would go if I ran into a problem while visiting with her.
  16. Wires hanging down under glove box?

Just FYI, you should be able to access the manual on your center console display. At least I can on my Rubi with 8.4" display. Yeah, bit of a pain to read, but can prove handy to use sometimes.
  17. Snorkel and dual batteries?

    Here's a good starting place ... https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/snorkels.16741/page-7#post-445656
  18. Front axle is longer than the back

Hey, Cindy, I hope you don't mind that I copied your pic to edit a bit. As others have written, compare the width of the tires. Using a tape measure is one way, but a piece of string would do just fine. Satisfy yourself that both are the same width. On the front, measure at the bottom of the...
  19. Damn...Cited for no doors and wide tires.

I have a friend, retired cop from Washington, and he has mentioned that Ford truck. Said they had one officer in their department who actually enforced that; all the rest ignored it. Could be a similar case here with OP's ticket.
  20. Front axle is longer than the back

Would you mind explaining what you see that you arrived at that conclusion? If it's the sidewalls of the tires, they should be aligned front to rear. If you mean the axle shafts, yes, there is one longer and one shorter up front since the front diff housing ("pumpkin") is off-center, and the...
